PDGA 1999 World Disc Golf Championship Posted: 12-30-01 By Blake Takkunen - the Webmaster - <blake@discgolfreview.com> My Review: Running Time: 67 Minutes Tape Speed: SP Location: Rochester, NY Featured Golfers: Commentators:: John Houck, Amy Bekken Picture Quality: B+ Sound Quality: B+ Final Round Coverage: A- Extra Footage: B- Commenatry: A Educational Value: B Overall Rating: B+ The round footage from the video has very clean camera work and editing. There aren't very many camera angles but they capture the action well. The commentary is very professional and accessible to both newer players and descriptive enough for seasoned veterans. I find this video to be the most similar to televised golf of all the videos I have seen with the emphasis on the action. Unfortunately, there aren't many camera shots that give the viewer a chance to study the throwers' mechanics. It would have been nice to see some side views of the disc flight and on occasion, the camera would follow the disc and lose perspective of the surrounding terrain and basket. The extra footage includes a few brief interviews, a few shots from other courses as well as the master's divsion sudden death playoff and more lengthy videos with the final 9 competitors. Overall, this video is entertaining to watch and a well done production but for those mainly watching videos as learning tools this footage is not as helpful as some of the other videos.
