Scott Stokely Instructional Disc Golf Video #1 VHS Posted 11-18-05 Submitted by Jonny Appleseed bboykin@cox.net Review: While I'm sure Scott Stokely meant well his instructional video series is garbage. Here's the thing - Scott rushes us through some throwing techniques on tape 1, explaining grip, stance, release, etc. But Scott never shows us the throws in action. A few different angles of an actual throw would have been great, along with some slow motion. The actual production of this video is sad. Scott is not properly mic'd so the wind interferes with the mic now and then. The video itself appears to have been shot on a low grade home video camera such as HI 8 or single CCD DV. It looks bad - blown out whites and no contrast. The transitions often cut into Scott's last words. There's useless filler of people driving discs and of course we rarely get to see their result. Again, I'm sure Mr. Stokely meant well, he does come off as a man who knows a lot about disc golf. But this video training series looks as if it was produced by a high school video club on their first outing. Besides quality issues there's simply not enough real-world shots of Scott demonstrating his techniques. There's alot of potatoes but no MEAT! It's more like "you grip it this way and release like this, now on to the next grip..." we never see any real examples. Scott, I'd be glad to produce your next video the right way!
