Player Reviews Posted 03-02-08 Submitted by Stephen Outten yourtruebrilliance@yahoo.com PDGA: Location: Lafayette, LA Level: Beginner Avg Drive: 300 Disc Weights: 169-172 Review: I have 2 surges. ESP (172) and a ESP FLX (170). I was intrigued by the feel of the FLX plastic. After throwing both for a little while i've found that i can't seem to find a really good grip on the FLX. Which in turn leads to sloppy releases and throws. Everyone says it grips great in wet conditions but down here in louisiana, it's gonna have to be heat tested. I do throw it a bit on heavily wooded holes because it tends to drop faster if it hits a tree. Now my regular ESP surge is probably my favorite driver. It feels great in my hand and releases consistently every time. I am a BUZZZ lover as well and would like to try one of the BUZZZ FLX's before i totally write off the FLX plastic Posted 10-25-07 Submitted by Dan Worth worthdan@msu.edu Level: Adv. Am Avg Drive: 400 Disc Weights: 172 Review: The FLX surge has become one of my favorite drivers. I have always been a fan of surges but something about the FLX version makes it a better disc (most of the time) to me. I use the FLX surge for almost all of my longer drives, except when it is windy. In my opinion the one down fall of this disc is it isn't very good on a windy day. This disc is incredibility easy to throw dead nuts straight, and you can also go hyzer and anhyzer fairly easy. I have 2 yellow with blue stamps and 1 orange with rainbow stamp. I like the yellow ones a lot better, they seem less over stable and are easier to control and throw farther. Overall this disc has become my third favorite disc (behind the z-predator and z-buzzz) and I would recommend FLX surge to anyone. The FLX plastic allows for a fantastic grip on the disc in any weather condition. This disc has endured encounters with brick walls and asphalt pavement at full speed without a scuff or a mark. Whenever I have a long shot that needs to fly a straight line, I reach for my surge. Discraft has hit this out of the park. They took the already great Surge and blended it with the new FLX plastic. What you get is a disc that you can bend in all directions and will STILL fly straight and stable. In fact, the FLX is a tad bit more stable than the regular ESP so it holds up better in a wind. This disc doesnt go as far as my Pro Wraith but its more consistent. If you havent picked up an FLX Surge go out and purchase one IMMEDIATELY!!! This will definitely be in your Top 3 Favorite drivers. Coming soon, a review of the FLX BUZZZ! Submit Your Review Back to Main Page |
