Player Reviews Posted 06-30-07 Submitted by Anonymous Disc Weights: 165g Review: I've been playing for a few months now and had picked up a 166g Valkyrie at Dick's Sporting Goods. It worked really well for me but I wanted a little more flexibility with my disc and then I found the Ace. The Ace has a lower speed and a higher glide than my Valkyrie and likes to go perfectly straight. The 165g weight is perfect for me. I highly recommend this for newer players but only if the 165g weight is within your weight range. Posted: 04-26-02 By Blake Takkunen - the Webmaster - <blake@discgolf.com> My Review: Innova-Champion's Ace is a moderately fast stable to understable long-range driver. This is not the old-school original Ace but a new small-diameter driver mold. This disc is available in standard DX plastic and only at 165 grams, supposedly as part of a Wal-Mart exclusive but they are available elsewhere in the Cities metro area. This is a very easy disc to throw and control and it has a very low power requirement. Although not the most versatile disc on the planet, the Ace is a very straight flying disc with excellent glide and lift and very little fade. Speed-wise it ranks amongst the Gazelle generation of drivers and its stability is in the ballpark of the Leopard or Xpress. This disc is very easy to flatten when thrown hyzer and it will “plane out” and continue flying flat and straight unless you really overpower it. Thrown flat, the Ace will fly straight or have a very gradual turn. The Ace works well for long anhyzers as it will hold that line and not fight its way out of the line until very late in its flight. Its low speed fade is similar to a Leopard or SE Leopard and occurs in the final 5-10% of its flight. Although not very wind resistant and unable to hold a hyzer line, the Ace very well may be the best straight driver for newer players or those without tremendous power.
