Player Reviews Posted 02-19-07 Submitted by jake PDGA: 26907 Location: Madison Disc Weights: 175 Review: The valkyrie was my workhorse driver for ~6 months a few years ago. I have thrown a pretty good variety of them including the Champion, CE, JK pro, dx, and pro. Overall I have been extremely impressed with the pro version. It starts off with about the stability of a champion valkyrie with better glide and grip. Speed-wise I would say that it lines up with most "9" innova drivers (close to a predator for discraft). High speed stability is pretty good but it will flip a bit into a moderate headwind. Low speed stability is in the range of valks: moderate but manageable. I would say that the amount of glide you get will give you some good lateral movement during the late stage in flight (think x avenger), especially when new. All things considered I think the durability was much better expected. The break in time was definitely more gradual than dx but not as slow as champion. With one pro valk, I have hit a couple of trees from within 50 ft, hit a metal pole, and skipped it of concrete and I would say that it now flies like a sidewinder w/less low speed stability. The nice thing about this disc is that it starts with a lot of glide so it still carries well even after use. I think that this disc is a good option for those who are starting to get good distance with more introductory drivers and are looking for something with better distance potential. It has decent durability, a good price point, and retains usefulness even after it gets broken in. This disc was made to s-curve and is not a true stable disc, but what you give up in predictability you gain in distance. One note on this review is that the ones that I tried were all white pro at high weight. I find the white pro discs are more stiff and durable when compared to other pro discs. I was at the golf store and i was regularly throwing my D Plastic valk and i loved the glide and feel of it. i decided to get a CE valk for added distance and durability but then i saw my Pro valk and i felt it in my hand and fake threw it (as we all deny doing but still do) i loooooooved the added griP. i bought it for 11 smakers. i took it to the course and chucked it... right into the ground. then on hole 2 i kePt it low and flicked the wrist as well as i could and WHOOOOO! you know when you watch the Pros, they throw it then by some magical force the frisbee gets suuuuuuuPa fast all of a sudden and shoots forward? that haPPened to me... TO ME!!! im Practically a noob and i got so much distance out of this its amazing. and the great Predictability really helPs. i can throw it in a tight fairway and hit my sPot every time. Please go get one. youll be glad you did. Submit Your Review Back to Main Page |
