Whispering Falls disc golf course in Greencastle, PA

We have set a date! The course in Greencastle will be officially open on August 11. We are going to hold a small tournament on Sunday August 12th.

We're working on having a player's pack for everybody and providing lunch. I'll definitely post more details as the time gets closer.

On the 11th were doing an 'open-house' sort of thing with clinics/demos and such, more geared towards people that know nothing of disc golf.

For now, we're still working every Sunday afternoon. Baskets should be in the ground sometime in July.

Brad,

I took the phototour when you posted to the Boulder Woods site. It looks pretty impressive and challenging. You guys must have a lot of time, blood, sweat and tears invested in clearing the fairways there. I look forward to playing there.

As it stands now it looks like it would be pretty easy to lose discs on some of those holes with all the ground cover and underbrush but I imagine some of the fairway shule will diminish with increased foot traffic and use.

Those B pins really intrique me. It seems if you can string threes on them and avoid the big numbers you'd be picking up some serious strokes on the field. SSA for all B pins would be 60? 65?

Thanks Steve. We're pretty excited about getting the baskets in the ground. We have had some major support on this project. The township maintenance crew has been doing the major clearing and tree removal. We've been following behind them doing grooming and brush removal. It's definitely been a process though.

The rough is very rough. Some of the fairways are pretty rough as well, but they are getting clearer by the weekend. And like you said, as it gets played, the course will soften up some.

The B pins intrigue me as well.

As it stands now, we have 10 B pins. 7 of them are being called par 4's as of right now. That would put the par at 61. Let me tell you, just from walking it and playing the fairways, I think a 51 is possible with all the B ins in. But it's going to take a near perfect round. I think a 56-58 will be a respectable round for the B's. As for the A's, I don't know if we'll see any scores in the 40's any time soon, but I think it may be done.

You'll have to come down on the 12th and give it a shot.

Bring your stool though, it's a long walk.

Jay. lives right next to the Codorus park, and I believe it took him right around an hour. If you're in Bmore, you shouldn't be much further than that. 295 to 70 to 81 and you're there.

And it will be tough. But I think it's fair. Smart play is rewarded, while going for the gusto can smack you in the face...
You should try and come up on Aug. 12th. Good times to be had.

Yesterday marked the first official round at Whispering Falls disc golf course!

A whole lot of work went in to this monster, but now seeing the whole thing playable, it makes it all worth it.

We played all A pins, total length somewhere in the neighborhood of 5800 ft. We have to redo our measurements, we moved some pin placements since then!

High round was 71, low round 57. Here's a few highlights.

It's fairly easy to avoid it. I'm not sure what he was thinking with his shot. It may have been the pressure of the camera...
Come down on Sunday and see if you can stay dry! The creek is only along one hole, the rest is all woods!
