Anyone played McMurdo Flights in Antarctica

Postby Donkeypuncher » Wed Jan 02, 2008 2:36 am

I was looking to see how many countries have courses and I saw antarctica on the list. http://www.pdga.com/course/courses_by_city.php?id=2004

That's some dedication to disc golf right there.

What's really intersting is that they have 9 Discatcher baskets. You would figure in Antartica that the course would either be an object course or made up of homeade baskets.

Directions: From Christchurch New Zealand, hop on a military flight down to "The Ice" - McMurdo Station Antarctica.

That's hardcore! right there. Taking a military flight to go play Disc Golf! SICK!!
I'd love to do an Ice Bowl there!

I remember when I noticed that course.. the directions are the best. "just hop on a military flight". Easy enough!

I don't see why we couldn't play, it's not like there is a war going on there. Something tells me you might crack some discs though.

There is Darkness for almost half the year down there too. So if for some krazy reason you plana trip there, keep that in mind to not go when it's always darlk.

It's also the coldest and windiest place on the planet. :)

Night golf would be wicked out there, if you could even throw a disc in those huge puffy outfits. I sounds like the wind chill temp can get lower than -100°F with 55 knot winds, so it probably wouldn't be a fun course.
