Courses in Maine

Postby valem » Tue Aug 12, 2008 11:36 am

I'm heading up to Old Orchard Beach, Maine at the end of this month as was wondering if anyone had the scoop on the following courses:

Boom Field
Bennett Disc Golf
Pleasant Hill

Any info would be great.

Pleasant Hill looks really nice, you can check out pics here. Disregard that review as it's just someone that is angry that they lost a disc in the water so they rated the course poorly.

Bennett looks awesome too.

I'm actually considering playing through Mass./Maine soon.. it's a toss up between that road trip and one through WV/PA/MD so I've been looking at all these courses and trying to make a tough decision.

I was leaning toward Pleasant Hill myself.

Looks like Bennett updated their tee's.

Maybe I'll just have to play both in one day....lol

I am from MA. I meet all the Maine guys at tournies and such all the time.

Check out 10downdiscgolf gear, it's pretty sweet looking.

Also, I think Bennett is the home of indoor disc golf.

I'm originally from ME, and have played there quite a bit.

You should make the trip to Pleasant Hill. The course is real open for the most part, but tons of fun to play. The signature hole is a 1000' + par 5. Some real nice variation. My only complaint is that the tee boxes can be a little short on a couple holes, but otherwise well worth the money.

If you get a chance, the *best* course in ME is Sabbattus Disc Golf. They have two different 18 hole courses and an additional short 9 hole. The Pro course has two different layouts (both challenging!) and the intermediate course is just so much fun. Excellent tees and baskets, long open holes, tight woods, ace runs, you name it, it's there. The course is owned by awesome people. If you can make the trip up, that's where I'd play.

I second Sabbattus.

Boom field has plenty of holes that are in a field. They did the best with what they had, and is a real good place for beginners/family, but if you're doing a road trip, I'm not sure if it'd be a great time for you.

I love BAP (Bennet All-Weather Paintball). Lots of long holes to rip bombs, and some shorter ones to mess you up.

And the indoor dg in the barn is tons of fun... you really only need a putter, but you are playing indoors... pretty cool. They have leagues up there in the winter. 3
