sylmar open 2009

Postby the unwrinkled ear » Tue Mar 31, 2009 3:29 pm

just wondering why this one day tournament that doesn't provide lunch, a disc, a shirt or anything costs $50 (even if you're current with pdga and local socal club; and $65 if not).
seems a bit high (unless free hookers, blow, and prime rib were left off the flyer for some reason :D )

or maybe theyre trying to raise money after the fire? and the robbery?
or maybe they're tourneys always have high-fees? (i dont know, havent looked into playing one before)

$50 seems about right for a one day tournament. At least that's what I expect to pay.

I'd think the real perks would be in the payouts

yah - i must be out of touch. i've never paid more than $40 for a one day, and played several two days that were under $50 (in 2007, 2008, 2009) where you actually got fed (and beveraged - holy shit!)

sylmar's not a very interesting course anyway - i'm saving my tourney dollars for courses that are actually worth thinking about

Really? You don't like the upper temp course? I've never played it myself, but I've only heard people speak highly of it.

The Upper Course only goes in for the Summertime Open. Sylmar Open is all on the lower.

the upper course is fun. not played during this tourney though.
i'm still astonished that $65 (no pdga, no local socal membership discounts) for a one-day no-food, no-disc, no-nothing tourney seems normal. i must be living in cartoon money frisbee world
