Master's Cup this weekend in Santa Cruz

Postby JHern » Thu May 14, 2009 1:14 pm

We're going to be groupies this weekend, going up to watch some of the big pros and how they play our favorite course. Got a nice cart and cooler full of beer, if anyone else is around and interested in joining. We'll be going both Friday and Saturday.

It was awesome Saturday, we followed the leaders group with Nate Doss, Greg Barsby (he shot 8 under par!), Nikko Locastro, and Josh Anthon.

Anthon was the big arm of the group. He put a Boss on a hyzer flip like a laser beam to park a 450' tunnel shot. One of the coolest things I've ever seen.

So, in case anyone was following, Barsby blew everyone's doors off on the last day with an astounding round: 11 under par!

Hats off to Greg, a great disc golfer and a great dude.

Yeah, I was watching the live scoring. Both Greg and Nate got aces in their final round. Steve Rico almost caught up, also shooting 11 down. He ended up passing Nikko and Kenny to snag 3rd, one shot behind Nate.

Do you recall which holes they aced?

Greg was on fire. Nice to see aces come out of that kind of intensity.

Barsby got a roller ace on #4 and Nate aced #21 to tie them up with 6 holes to play.

Wow. Roller ace on #4. #4 is a real bastard of a hole (tight left turn between a mess of trees and a canyon along the right)...a lot of players just play it safe, drive or roll into a clearing, and then lay up for par.
