Avery had a less than stellar round at Cliff Drive this afternoon. Matt Orum on the 2nd card tore that course apart though with an Ace on #5 on his way to a score of 45 (with a 5 on the last hole). For those who have never played cliff, that number is just as ridiculous as a 53 at the Valley.

Pretty sure that will put Matt within a couple strokes of the lead going into tomorrow. Avery isn't running away with this yet, and he better improve on his play at Cliff, since the Pros will be playing there again.

James Conrad... he's pretty sick. Really young, too; only... 20? He's a big arm. 500' thrower I think.

James is a great kid, I used to play with him and his dad when they lived here in Colorado. Montrose Colorado took a HUGE hit in talent when they both left. He's definitely playing solid.

Nothing but a couple of crummy clips on PDGA dot com from what I've seen. Mesmerizing coverage of a "press conference" doesn't do it for me. Not as nice as last year by any stretch.

I have video clips of several top groups in different divisions I've been following. Most of my photo collections like "Fluidity at Waterworks" and "Exploring the Under world" have been posted on the PDGA Media page. But our bandwidth is limited here for video uploads. I plan to organize them and upload them on my high speed line once home next week either to the PDGA page or Picasa.

Matty's 45 was rated a 1082, meaning if he'd birdied the short par 4 #1 rather than bogey it, he would have been on track for an 1100 rated round. The SSA was 54 which got me thinking, what's the highest SSA in a 1100 round?

They're Disc King baskets. For those who haven't seen them, they're bright orange with a neon yellow pole. I was looking at one of their baskets last night at the flymart, and they have plasma cut out a number for the top of it (circle with plaza cut negative of the number). They catch really well, and they're fantastic for wooded courses where seeing the pin can be tricky.

Highest SSA is slightly under 54 on Brian Skinner's 1117. Feldberg came closest to beating that with a 1098 at the Memorial last year on a 57+ SSA course.

Chuck, those are some nice pictures of the Down Under course. We spent a lot of time in the past month cutting that place back out to host a big event like this. I wish there hadn't been the rain on Tuesday because DU really does turn into a muddy version of a Slip'n Slide, but you can't control the weather. I heard it was better as the week went on.
