The Bearclaws Disc Golf Association will be holding "Do it for the Dam IV" on Saturday, August 18 at the Francis E. Walter Dam Disc Golf Course.
This event will be the fourth fund-raising tournament for continued course improvements at F.E.W. Over the past three years, the DIFTD events have enabled the Bearclaws to install seven new baskets, tee boxes, and tee signs at F.E.W. thanks to the generosity and participation of players from inside and outside of our area.
We ask for your continued participation so we can help F.E.W. continue to improve.
The event will be two-rounds of singles. We will later decide on two rounds of 18 or 20 holes.
We decided on singles over doubles for one main reason - player participation. Since this is a fund-raising event, we want as many players to participate as possible. Conversations and emails from some players indicated a concern in finding a partner. A singles event will eliminate that problem and all who would like to play will be able to do so.
We will likely run two divisions - Open and Amatuer. Open players will play for cash while amatuers will play for prizes. Approximately 20-percent of each player entry will go to the F.E.W. Course Fund.
Fees will be set at $20.00 for Open and $15 for Amatuer.
Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. with the players meeting and hole assignments to be held at 9:45 a.m. Play is expected to start at 10:00 a.m. We will have a one-hour lunch break and begin the second round. We will also have a Closest to the Beverage contest as well.
We hope to see as many of you out so we can "Do it for the Dam".
