Most PDGA TDs follow the formula for entry fees and undesignated sponsorship. But if a sponsor says it will add $4000 specifically to first place Open, we don't turn it down. There are many examples of specified sponsorship in the past with $500 added to the Sr GM purse or $1000 added to Women Pro only. Having a basket added specifically for the Advanced winner is the same type of thing as specified cash and that happens regularly.

Except that the basket normally doesn't boost the Advanced payout for 1st place; it simply replaces it or compensates part of it.

That's not always true at Worlds and many other events. The point still is that cash and prizes from sponsors can be targeted to specific divisions or first place without violating any payout rules.

I dont mind, I just thought it was odd, because afaik the rules for tournaments where worded differently. Unfortunately I can check right now.
