orc's first attempts at dyeing

Postby orcman » Thu Jul 23, 2009 10:53 am

After looking around and researching it a bit, I decided I wanted to personalize my discs as well. Here are my first couple tries.

very first attempt. see-thru green Champion Orc. Old disc, one that I found. freehand. didn't actually remove all of the original stamp. overall, i was pleased with it, but it certainly isn't perfect, and i regretted freehanding it, cause I suck ass.

Second attempt on a brand new white Star Orc. Eddie, slightly off-center. Dye ran a bit where I goofed with the x-acto. Overall, I'm very pleased with it. I may add something to it around the outer edge.

yeah, Maiden rules.

You can't see it in the pics, but when I was removing the stamp from the white disc, the original dye ran, so now I have little pink streaks in Eddie's face. Also not obvious in the pic are a few lines where I goofed up with the x-acto. Overall, though, I'm pretty happy with it. I really wish I'd done a better job centering it.

Thanks for the compliments, guys. I'll be doing more as I get new discs.

*edit* And yeah, I'm getting a 360 swivel x-acto. I just couldn't find one at walmart, and couldn't be arsed to drive thru traffic to go to Hobby Lobby.

They're both Orcs, but I appreciate that. Yeah, I just wanted to try it out, but I didn't have a printer or anything, and that was a disc I had found like a year ago, and forgotten about. I've got another stencil made up for a very literal design, but it's pretty ambitious and probably beyond my skill level.

I haven't found a swivel Exacto at any hobby stores, I had to order mine off the wonderful internet. Paid about $7 and some extra blades. Tricky to learn but well worth it.

Good job with the Eddie dye -- Why not drip some red dye on it for the "blood splatter" effect?

That's alot of color to try and get on a see-thru red disc, though. I don't think the yellow will take too well.
