Hot Stamp Artwork

Postby Skulboy » Wed Sep 15, 2010 6:44 pm

The following are some graphics I've done for hot stamping discs.

Image
This is my first one, The Sylmar Summertime Open. Also the first tournament I ever played in. Had a blast.
The park was the starting point of a mountain fire that scorched 1,000s of acres a few years back so they wanted something "hot."

Image
This was commissioned for a group of El Dorado players in Long Beach, CA.
I did a blk and white version for stamping and this color one for printing on other stuff.

Image
And this one I'm having stamped myself, hoping to start an artist series of discs.
The order has been placed with Innova and I should have them in a couple of weeks.

Thanks for looking.

Have not thrown it. Bought it to support the guys and to see what the R+ was like. At the time there was talk that the Star Shark was being discontinued so I started looking around for what to replace it with.

Thanks Les, most appreciated. I'm getting a lot of negative comments about the winged skull graphic on another DG forum so thank you for the kind words.

Here's another version.

My first custom stamp is in my grubby hands and my website is rolling along.
The black Aviars came out pretty sweet as Innova double stamped them with different colors giving the image a highlighted look.

Thanks
They are stamped on:
Star Katana
Champ Valkyrie
R-Pro Roc
DX Aviar

Flipflat,
When I opened the box at Innova and saw the black Aviars I freaked. The double stamp thing is such a cool effect.

I've only got two questions. What's the weight on the pink valks and it says pay through pay pal... I don't have one of them, will I be able to just use a cedit card?

Oh a side note, I looked through all your movie work... jaw is still three miles behind me on the ground. Super impressed and I've been a fan of your work for years and didn't even know it!

The pink valk in the store is 171g. Not in the store yet, I have a pink valk with purple stamp at 166g and I have one that is mostly clear with a slight blend of pink on the rim with a raindow stamp at 168g.

Yes, you can pay with a credit card through Paypal without having an account there.

Glad to hear you like the movie set stuff. We work crazy hours and some of it is tough manual labor, but I gotta say it's a pretty cool job to have.

Duh, now I feel embarrassed. I thought that was a link to all of the pink ones, not just one pink one, but right there is says 171g. I guess I should try reading instead of just looking at the pretty pictures. Just bought that pink with blue stamp Valk. The blue Roc with red stamp is pretty, but I don't really throw Rocs.

Yeah, working on movies seems like a pretty neat job. Don't have the artistic skills for it though, but it's nice to look at. Just out of curiosity, how did you get into that business?

Thanks Itchy, you are my very first store sale. Much Appreciated. Disc will be shipped tomorrow (Monday.)

As for getting into the movie industry, a friend that I carved full sized carousel horses with back in my home town of Rochester, NY ended up out here in LA. I kept in touch and he helped me get into the sculptor's union. So it was kinda of a "who I knew" thing.

Hey no problem... always happy to support a fellow thrower. I look forward to throwing it and you can't beat a pink Valk with skull on it, either.

I always find it interesting the ways we all end up where we are.
