The shortest Disc Dye thread ever

Postby Leopard » Tue Jun 14, 2011 2:09 pm

Post in here if you ONLY dye original designs or works of art.

No ripoffs, no logos, no rock stars, no cartoon characters, no CHuCK copies, no.... oh shit, I just named everything that's ever been dyed on a disc.

I got some stuff for ya... here are a couple I did a bajillion years ago.

The chili peppers were my first ever dye and I got a little bleedy-bleed. They are on a 150g Star Aviar.
The skull is on a 150g Star Sidewinder. It bombs in a tailwind. EDIT: the DGR PD stamp was inspired by this first design.
Both of these dyes look fabulous when they are spinning.

I only do original work... except for one dye I did a Star Destroyer on a Star Destroyer. I did it for a friend only because I absent-mindedly opened my big mouth and said I would. It is someone elses idea (George Lucas' model makers) but I drew it myself. It is still stealing but I feel a little better about it.

Here is my mini:
ImageNot a dye, just sharpie. Still original.
I would rather see someone's scribbly-sketch ugly homebrew rather than a cleanly executed rip-off any day of the week.

I save most of my creativity for stamps instead of dyes; here's something I did for victorb's Mid America Open tournament.
Self conceived, hand drawn, laboriously vectored, and endlessly tweaked. Of course.

those are f'in awesome!!

nice job on that bird. seriously one of the main things i've always admired is your variety of line and the expressiveness of the vectoring.

nice.

Thanks.
"Expressiveness" and "vectoring" are usually on opposite ends of the spectrum so it takes alot of work to get those 2 in the same ballpark.

I realize what you were trying to do when you started this thread. I've thought about doing the same thing at least hundred times. I had to toss in a couple of images just to show people that it can be done... and hopefully to coax a few other guys out of the closet. I'd LOVE to see some of y'all's original stuff.

I always open these dyeing threads. Two seconds later I am depressed and I close them.

Srsly. Let's see some original stuff.

Maybe one day I'll post some of my nekkid pig-porn drawings!

first off let me say fuck you to leopard, the snobby bastard.

so i improvise. but yeah...you guys are the real artists. can i get that skull eps? :D
