i kinda made a DG comic book

my top-secret project of the last month....

The HOTT Book:
Image

the prototype pictured here is 24 pages, *heavy* glossy stock, standard comic book page size, with a nice pro-quality laser print. the final release will have 4 pages added, with one new comic sequence and the full results from the HOTT Finals.

the book is based on artwork from the Tour, including painted stamps and original artwork. there are complete results from each event, including round scores and round ratings, plus winnings and points (where available). also random notes like aces, course records, notable incidents, etc from staff and players. it's quite a little almanac of the tour.

i had this idea a while back. there were 18 stamps for me to make for HOTT, and i wrote out a plot to keep my thoughts organized. it was about this supernatural battle between good and evil, with aliens and monsters and hot chicks. the stamps weren't meant to make sense but to give a hint of love/hate. when the scenes are all put together though, it does make a little sense.

the vibe of the tour art was modeled after music packaging... concert shirts, album covers, and liner notes... so it was a natural progression to a comic book / almanac / booklet vibe. it's not purely a comic book... it's got comic sequences and pages, but it's also like a heavily illustrated almanac. but if the artwork makes you want to call it a comic book, then it would be the first DG comic book ever. (as far as our research can tell...)

it's got baskets, frisbees, thumbers, drugs, sex, violence, alien autopsy, haiku, grays AND reptoids, and plenty of FIRE. everything a HOTT book should have.

i made 20 protos (mostly gone) and we'll be printing the final release here in a few weeks. they should be for sale through teamjusticediscgolf.com, and we're looking at a price of $18 shipped. maybe you like boobs, maybe it's a cool piece of history in the convergence of artwork and disc golf. i like boobs, myself. mulling over stats during winter ain't bad either. the print quality is excellent, and it's a sweet product.

obviously, i'm really proud of how it turned out. just wanted to share :)

By winter you mean you have to wear pants instead of shorts, right?

I'll be picking up a copy. Zam's got some big work he's working on for me...stay tuned!

I'll make you a deal, Zam-

Seeing as how my wife is a big fan of your artwork, and an even bigger fan of comic books/graphic novels, if she sees this and ends up leaving me to move to Austin for you...

...can I at least get a copy at a discount? :D
