Before anyone says whats the point of carrying all those discs, Ironically i have a good reason.

Im fat !!!

I like to carry extra weight to basically tire myself out. Granted i take out discs i wont use during tournaments. Since playing disc golf about 3 years ago. Started playing weighing in over 400 lbs. In a year and a half i have lost over 80 lbs with a consistent regiment of playing at the least 5 rounds a week , cutting back my food intake, and cutting out soda all together. Switched from coffee to tea.

About my game

Consistently throwing 350 - 400. I dont have a normal flick, if i flick its more like a side arm basebal throw. My flick is only used for distance. Back hand is also at 350. I have been a gateway sponsered player since march of 08. While i love all of gateways discs i am still really learning all the drivers. Im thinking the start of the tournament season i will be using solely gateway.

What really needs to improve in my game is my putting. Dueces are hard to come by when your shaky at putting from 25 feet . I am much more confident in a doubles situation. Here in Maine we have a players tour run by the players for the players. It pays cash to all divisions, many people have their views on this we try our best to police baggers. Maine has a small group of about 100 serious players with a mixture of 200 that you may see at an event twice a year.

I have a bad ankle that actually needs surgery, It has been broken 3 times fractured 5 and spraigned 17 times or something like that. They need to break my ankle bone cut the tendons and remove bone gragments that are "floating" around lmao.

Why not carry backups of the same molds instead of 14 differrent molds. Or have different stages of wear.

As a fellow gateway sponsored player id have to say to try out the warror and spirit. The new warrior is sweet, as long as you get a flat top one. The domey ones are uber stable, I prefere the s plastic as you can beat them in and have differnent flights with the same mold. As for the spirit its the best windy driver made IMHO great penetration and great resistance to turn. It also makes a great skip disc and forehand roller.

EDIT: not telling you what to do, but i beeive this is a more practical way of adding weight to your bag. Instead of a bunch of odd discs. Heck you could even put rocks (like stones not the disc) to add weight instead of those different molds.

I don't think that is too many. I currently carry around 20 discs:

Aero
Coyote
Stingray
Roadrunner
Monarch
Archangel
Dragon
Valkarie X3
Beast X2
Gazelle
Banshee
FL
TL
Tee Rex
Destroyer
Spectra
And a JLS

Each do something a little different for me and can get me out of most situations.

I carry close to 20 as well......but they are only six or sometimes 7 molds. Better consistency will come if you drop some of those molds.

I'm in a bit of a dickish mood, so I'd like to take this opportunity to point out that you spelled Valkyrie wrong. Twice if you count the 'favorite disc' line in your profile.

And you carry too many molds. Better read up.

I guess it depends on the person, Maybe he is happy with his bag setup. If so more power to him.

Its his back after all.

this is the perfect thread for how i have been looking at my bag lately. i currently have ....18... molds and 26 discs in my bag and i read that you shouldn't over lap or carry too many molds and im always thinking about limiting molds. but my excuses is that i have only been playing for 8-9 months now so im still getting used to and finding out what different discs do/ what i can do with different discs. is this a legitimate excuses or should i start limiting now?

The beginning is the time you want to limit your discs the most. Learn good form with a few discs that are recomended here for beginners. As you advance and your form improves, you will notice differences in flight between discs. My suggestion, a stable putter (Wizard, KC Aviar, Challenger, Banger GT) a good stable Midrange (Roc, Buzz, Wasp, Cro) and a workable fairway driver (Gazelle, Leopard, XL, Cyclone) all in baseline plastic. Get to know 3 discs real well and learn how to use them in lots of situations. Don't start out with max weight either, as you won't gain much from it right off the bat. I see you are 8-9 months into it so some of this may be a bit to beginner for you, but it is worth a shot.

OK, how's this? I've dropped a lot of discs to just these

2 putters (super soft Wizard which I just got in a player package and a DX Aero)
a Champion Coyote
a Champion Roadrunner
I kept my 2 Star Valkries and a champion Valkrie as my main drivers
a DX Gazelle
a Champion Wraith

I'm keeping a Star Beast simply because it is heavy and works good for short thumbers out of thick brush and a DX Tee Rex because at the moment it is the only thing I can throw forehand with any consistancy.

To be honest, I've only really used the Valkries, Coyote and the Putters lately anyway.

Any suggestions?

Your back will thank you for dropping a lot of the plastic from your bag. It definitely looks like a pretty good bag (the Wizard, Coyote, and Gazelle should probably see most of the action) but you might consider adding a very overstable driver. The Valkyrie and the Roadrunner overlap a bit, you might consider choosing just one of those to keep. Are you using the Wraith as your distance driver or do you use the Valkyrie when you want to air it out? If you are more comfortable with the Valkyrie I'd drop the Wraith and just use the Valk as your distance driver.
