Phantem's bag: advice wanted

Postby phantem » Tue Feb 17, 2009 6:31 pm

Distance driver:
used dx teebird 167.

control drivers:
used champ teebird 167

understable driver:
beat teebird 167

moderately overstable driver:
new star teebird 167
z pred 164

overstable driver:
z pred 172

Mids:
z buzzz 173
x buzzz 172
z wasp 176

Putters
3 Wizards
1 new sss for putting
175 M driving
175 S upshots/ approaches
166 Voodoo for longer putts until my wizards break in.

I max out on distance at about 320. I just got a monarch for cheap to see what it can do.
I am also getting for cheap a new comet and zone to play with.
What do you think? Do I need any improvements while I work on my form?

looks pretty solid. the teebirds will do you well. if you're throwing 320, i wouldn't really throw the monarch much but that's just me. I have one and i'm not a big fan but i think you're beat teebird will do about the same thing for you. One thing you might want to look into is a teebird thats a little bit heavier for the moderately overstable shot.

I never thought this would ever come out of my mouth, but you almost have TOO many TeeBirds (am I high on schiteey crack?)

At you're power level, the TeeBirds are fine, but you might want to try a distance driver out (Beast, Pro Starfire or Valk) for when your D increases.

Also, in your Mod overstable slot, you might want to make that a 175g Chap TB. 8) 8) 8)
My trades

I suck at Disc Golf, therefore I can't afford to carry discs that suck.

id consider tossing in a 165ish DX Valk for max D, i bet that a valk would go a bit further for you than the TB (especially once seasoned)

Considering a TB is pretty beefy disc and he throws 320' I think for more reliability and consistency a heavier Valk might be better because there's a large difference between them in high speed stability. Like opposite ends -not far ends. Maybe 170 would be better and for windier occasions 175. Valks should fly farther for him.
Flat shots need running on the center line of the tee and planting each step on the center line. Anhyzer needs running from rear right to front left with the plant step hitting the ground to the left of the line you're running on. Hyzer is the mirror of that.

I understand how great dx is, with the valks, how does star compare? I'll probably pick up a valk before I play on Sat and give it a spin.

star is OK but DX is by far the best plastic for Valks, and at your D a 165 should be perfect, once that gets a bit flippy id add a 170/172 for more stability
