victorb bag for 2010 season

Postby victorb » Fri Jan 15, 2010 9:49 am

Ok, so I'm going to take a page from discjunkie and post this bag, and try not to change it at all this year!

gotta put up my bag in the 2010 thread! all in a celery green revo carolina. Max d about 410', controlled d 375' with strikers (+/-10' on either).

distance drivers

171 Star Wraith (primary d-driver)
175 Champ Glow Wraith (overstable distance)

overstable

169 Z Predator (acts more like a new X Pred)
173 Z Predator (workhorse overstable)
171 Z Predator (flat top, acts like a spirit, spike hyzers/skips, etc)

fairway

172 Goldline Striker (primary control driver)
173 Opto Striker (beat, works lots of lines)
171 Opto Striker (long turnovers)
172 Champ Leopard (midrange distance on a driver line, short turnovers / rolling driver)

midranges

176 X Comet (really beat, finesse upshots and rollers)
177 X Comet (newish, low power straight shots)
174 Z Comet (worn, jack of all trades midrange)
178 Sparkle Z Comet (slow hyzer midrange)
179 FLX Drone (flick upshots, short spikes / must go left)

putters

173 CryZtal Challenger (hyzer approaches, driving putter)
172 D Challenger (primary putter)
169 D Challenger (long putts, turnover drives)
172 FLX Challenger (approaches)

7 molds and every major shot covered. Really liking this setup, I'm really going to try not to mess with it too much.

added a rattler, needed something to run at baskets outside of my jump putt range. very well could be removing the drone for an aftershock or KC pro roc.

175 Champ Glow Wraith (overstable distance)

overstable
169 Z Predator (acts more like a new X Pred)

slight change in the lineup.

distance drivers
171 Z Surge - even though they are listed as being nearly identical to a wraith a surge is easier to grip for me, possibly due to mold height?
175 ESP Surge

overstable
169 Z Predator (acts more like a new X Pred)
173 Z Predator (workhorse overstable)
171 Z Predator (flat top, acts like a spirit, spike hyzers/skips, etc)

fairway
172 Goldline Striker (primary control driver)

171 Opto Striker (long turnovers)
172 Champ Leopard (midrange distance on a driver line, short turnovers / rolling driver)

169 D Challenger (jump putts, turnover drives)
172 D Rattler (long runs at the basket, 90-120')

wasn't gonna offer any suggestions, but since you've already changed it.... I used to flick a gator for approaches, but I switched once I tried a pig. I flick the pig on anything I can inside of 230. It's slower (more touch) and has little skip- it's won me alot of cash! I don't know how the zone compares to the pig, but it might be worth a look.

also, when do you use the "jack of all trades" comet over the others?

I'm a bit of a fan of the 150 Magic. It does nice low-power turnovers that your comet might straighten out on.

Just a thought.

I use it more often than any of the others, unless I'm looking for a specific type of flight. I can throw any shot with it, but in certain situations I might like to throw something a bit more overstable or understable.

Besides not wanting to throw gateway, I don't really have an issue with low power turnovers with comets, or challengers.

Also, took the rattler out of the bag because it wasn't getting the job done for what I wanted it for. Got me into more trouble than what it was worth.

Have you tried Challengers @ 150?

nope, and not really sure why I'd need one either.

They're great for tailwind putting, and approaches down steep hills where you need to stop on the side of the hill.

If you're standing on the side of a steep hill, and the basket is halfway down the hill and you don't want to go too far past the basket if you miss, nothing beats a 150 class putter for that.

might be something to consider, but I'm not really comfortable putting a 150 class disc in my bag at this point.

not much has changed over the last 2 months. This is what I'll be using to kick off my tournament season this weekend at the 1st LSDiscs Columbia Pro/Am.

distance drivers
171 Z Surge

overstable
169 Z Predator (acts more like a worn X Pred)
173 Z Predator (workhorse overstable)
171 Z Predator (flat top, acts like a spirit, spike hyzers/skips, etc)

fairway
172 Goldline Striker (primary control driver)
173 Opto Striker (worn, works lots of lines)
171 Opto Striker (hyzerflips and long turnovers)
172 Champ Leopard (midrange distance on a driver line, short turnovers / rolling driver)

midranges
176 X Comet (really beat, finesse upshots and rollers)
177 X Comet (newish, low power straight shots)
174 Z Comet (worn, jack of all trades midrange)
178 Sparkle Z Comet (slow hyzer midrange)
179 FLX Drone (flick upshots, short spikes / must go left) - still too overstable for what I'm wanting - might replace with a D Drone or Sentinel eventually

putters
173 CryZtal Challenger (hyzer approaches, driving putter)
174 D Challenger (primary putter)
174 D Challenger (backup putter)
169 D Challenger (long putts/approaches, turnover drives)
