a) haven't really figured out where to use them

b) what to use
was using a CE QMS but wasn't working for me

I'm wondering if this is going to be overstable enough for short range FH into a headwind or if I should try something else (Drone???)

Orion LF in M 167 pretty beat (Frank's sloppy seconds...thanks!! )

Orion LF in M 168...mostly for nice straight drives
X Crush 168 longer, handles wind better than the MOLF, but more fade

11x Firebird 172 headwind duties, hyzers, and FH's
Z Crush 170 super flat lesser headwind, hyzers with skips, longer FH's

Distance
Star Destroyer 158 Asia Open...basically pure all out distance shots on flex lines


I also for practice purposes use a "slower" speed set up

same putters and mids
Eagles 10x KC Pro 168 x2, 11x EX 167, 11x EL 168...pretty much whatever you want them for really, stable hyzers, line shaping etc
Pro TB 167 and 169...straight
Trident 172 FH's and hyzers

I can't yet bring myself to just use the slower stuff as I do get extra distance from the faster discs
but I try to use it if it isn't a tournament or league/doubles

How do you like the buzz? Is it a mid you would like to build around? What other mids have you thrown/liked?

I am actually still demoing the Buzzz
it is a more stable than the QMS and has a better feel for me in the hand
obviously it is a well respected mid
low profile so it can go pretty far

I am also going to try a Fuse and a Core

I tried a Mako and it felt good in the hand but was a little too understable for what I wanted
that might also rule out the Fuse

If you don't decide on the buzz, and you want a stable mid range, there is a very obvious answer for that. Have you tried a roc recently?

I have tried the Roc and although it is a well respected mid and lots of people rave about it I do not like it

That's all that matters. Other people can like a disc as much as they want. If it doesn't work for you it doesn't work for you. It just means you're wrong.

If you continue using the buzzz, you may consider a comet or fuse still. The buzzz is a good straight mid, but it isn't a do it all mid.

You throw a crush, and a FB, could be some slight overlap there not bad though. But any of the 3 would give you a similar performance in the wind powered down, or in whatever situation you find yourself reaching for a Drone.

As far as you having trouble on when to use your mids, easiest way to put it would be when something is out of reach for your putter to go accurately and too close for the driver you would use a mid, i use my mid off the tee often on holes 320 and shorter, i can get them out farther but its way less accurate so it depends on the landscape of the hole and which line is the best and how comfortable you feel with that disc.

Ringers- putting, approach and short driving duties

Buzz- straight to right shorter drives and approaches, would recommend getting a couple maybe in diff weights or plastics so you have a variety of shots covered without having to risk overpowering a disc like the buzz, its better with smoother throws when you let the disc do the work, most people like the Z/ESP combo or the Z buzz/ Comet combo although to me the comet and wasp feel similar to a roc and it may be something you dont like since the Roc feels weird in your hand

FB/Crush- overstable wind and utility discs overhands, flicks, skips

2-OLF's one less stable one stable
OLS straight to right type shots, maybe some turnovers

You will probably like the core and a fuse, the core is a lot like a buzzz, but less stable. I would say a Stable Z Buzzz and a Fuse could be a good to disc combo. If you like carrying more than 2 mids, a couple different Z buzzz and a D or an X can cover it all as well.

crush is an overstable disc for sure, and depending on which FB he has it could be close, but FB's arent nearly as long. At low speeds they are both meathooks for sure

the Crush is an interesting disc
I have it in 3 forms but don't always carry all 3

the X for me is pretty straight and long with a late fade
it goes further than my ESP and Z Crushes because it has better glide and isn't as stable

I need to beat my ESP to be more like my X

my Z Crush off the newer circle stamp run is super flat
it lacks glide and will cut hard left (RHBH)

I do have a couple of the older run Z Crushes and they aren't quite as stable and so that might be why some would not think it to be as stable as a Firebird

I use a combination of Firebirds (12x and 11x) for various duties...I use the Z Crush for longer shots or where I want a bigger skip
