Bag > My arm

Postby ThinkingGolfer » Tue Nov 23, 2010 7:26 pm

I'm looking to tone it down a bit as far as my disc spread. I think I need something with more of a control aspect and am not seeing to find it out of my arsenal as of now.

Distance:

2x Pro Destroyers (172)
1x Star Destroyer (175)
1x Star Max (173)

Control(ish):

1x Champ TeeBird (167)
1x Champ Eagle-L (169)
2x DX Leopards (167)

Mid:

2x Glo Rocs (175)
1x R-Pro Roc (175)
1x Champ Spider (168)

Putter:

1x R-Pro Rhyno

I'm throwin' around 375 - 400 with the Destroyers and everything else is "up in the air"

welcome!

dx or star eagle-x should be a fun, controllable disc for you, especially as it breaks in. how far do you get the teebird?

Thanks for the welcome!

I can stash the TeeBird in the 275 to 300 range, I just don't have the feel for the control disc and rippin' the TeeBird doesn't do the trick.

just put your 3 distances drivers away. then i would suggest a different putter to putt with, rhyno is a fantastic upshot disc but not great for putting unless conditions call for it.

I've got a Challenger and a KC Pro Aviar, I'll start throwin' those around and see if I can get some results.

Start using your TeeBird more, and get a SE-X (because it's good dammit! Everyone needs one =) ). If you can get Pro Destroyers up to 400, you should have no problem getting the TeeBird to around 350' controllably.

I would pick up a heavier Teebird 172-175. Also if you still want a high speed disc I would try a Wraith or a Surge. They are still very fast discs, but are easier to control then a destroyer.

I'd only have one of the big d drivers and have more disc like eagles, teebirds etc. How far are you throwing?

I can drive a wide rim around 400 and a fairway driver around 300.

I have acquired a Champ Sidewinder and a Z XL, where would a disc like these fit in my game? I have thrown a Z XL before but never touched a Sidewinder.

Honestly the Teebird is hailed as one of the best control/fairway drivers on the market. I would keep working that, or get a heavier one. Throw it on different angles, at different speeds and see how it reacts.

An Eagle is also very nice, so is the Z-XL.

I would throw the challenger for my putter, its what I use and they beat in nice. Rhynos are nice, but more situational.

Practice in a field, it helps.

So on a bit of an update, I have stopped throwing the Destroyers all together and played a couple of rounds with a TeeBird and a River to work on controlled drives, and I picked up a new putter, a zero line Pure, love it.

if you stick with it, leaving the destroyers out for a good amount of time and using some slower discs will help your distance game and controlled distance will be the result
