New vid after working on right pec drill

Throwing 175g orange and yellow SOLS's, and a white 175g S wizard.

I feel like I am not throwing nearly as hard, my reachback is much shorter, I think its more of a bent elbow swing. I am getting just as good if not a little better distance than before with the straight arm reachback. I feel like there is a lot more potential in this swing than in my last. I love how I am still very balanced throughout the followthrough and after the disc is away.

It looks like you release the disc a little bit early, like masterbeato mentioned in his video...maybe you'd get more distance otherwise.

Also, your disc is not as close to your pec as I've been led to believe is optimal.

still looking pretty solid, but JHern is right that you could come through a little closer to your chest. if you do, that will actually help with later releases. pretty sure you could increase your distance that way. you may have to aim a little different when you do this, so it's annoying at first, but it definitely helps distance and eventually accuracy once you get the feel for it again.

i had a lot of trouble switching to a really close to the chest pull myself (because i was so afraid i'd be sacrificing accuracy), but i finally caved recently and it's been working pretty well. all of the accuracy isn't back yet, but the distance has jumped up even more so i probably just need to get used to the flight of my discs again. no big deal.

hug your disc.

Do you guys think it is later than my previous vid? At the farthest point of the pull back the disc is practically resting on my left pec...do you mean the hit should be closer to my body?

On a side note, the HD function isnt showing up this morning for me. It looked so awesome last night after I uploaded it, but the low quality version makes it so you cant even see the disc. Can you guys see the HD version?...or even the slightly higher quality version?

I get pretty good video quality here, probably your HD...not sure how it is across other platforms (I use a Mac).

I'm also working on the right pec drill these days, and keeping the disc tucked in closer in order to work on maximum elbow extension. If it is really close, it seems to be more difficult to release the disc prematurely.

Comparing with your previous drive, it seems like the other thing I notice in both cases is timing. It is slightly better after the pec drill, but your pull through still seems to happen a bit ahead of schedule, and your shoulders have not rotated to an open enough position at release. This means a bit of strong-arming...your torso is helping only very early on in your pull, instead of later where it probably counts most.

I'll bet this timing issue (early pull-through, release), along with keeping it further tucked in, would really help your throw conform more to what I've been trying to do of late (I'm still not there yet, but I'm feeling the hit more strongly after working on the pec drill almost exclusively). It seems like you should get better distance than you are currently getting.

your body is coming in a tad too early. Your form looks more smooth though.

Keep pulling your arm a little longer and then come through with your body because your extension is not quite full.

pulling my arm back more or ...what do you mean by longer?
your extension is not quite full.

Elbow extension?

Pulling forward

Yes, elbow extension. Elbow should extend till the disc is at your sternum or right pec, and than your body should start coming through.

Just getting that elbow out there first.

Gah! I swear that is what Im trying to do...its just so damn counter intuitive. So let me ask you this...where should the hit occur? Like imagine looking down on the top of your head and a clock surrounds you with 12:00 being at your right shoulder, 6:00 your left, 9:00 your face, 3:00 your ass. Where does your hit occur? Now at what height does it occur...nipples? ...above the nipples?

11:30 - 11:45

Anywhere in that range is good.

My hit is below my nipples

Height is not really an issue, as long as it's not by your junk or above your head. Dave Dunipace releases as high as his face.

Wow, my hit is clearly more like 9 or 10. how close to your body is your hit?

Close enough to where I sometimes hit my chest when I try to pull too hard.

as close as you can get basically is the whole point.

think in terms of inches....an inch or half an inch from your chest, to the rim of the disc
