Throw Diversity

Postby Jeronimo » Wed Sep 23, 2009 6:44 pm

Don't know if this has been posted before but I recently found this video on youtube and I really dig it. Gives a great look at the differences in many of the pro's throwing style. Music is pretty cool too...

that's a pretty good dvd.

I like how much power Matt Orum gets on such a slow run up... that'll give you an advantage in the winter!

It's really interesting to see the differences in style:

Brinster does this little hop before he plants and delivers,
Brian S obviously has wicked snap, love the air bounce shot,
Avery has incredibly fast arm movement,
I don't know how the hell Jay Reading can throw like that...
and I love watching Climo throw with his whole body

Seriously. It looks like he's not going to stop and not throw and then he pulls through. Looks awkward as all hell.

I've got to say I think I connect most with Feldberg's form. He's clean, smooth and it really looks like no energy is used in anything other than his throw. I like how he uses his left arm to line up his reach back with his throwing arm.

Brinster's little hop and deliver is driving me nuts. I have to try that.

Oh, and I hate the way Jesper throws... It annoys the hell out of me. Obviously it is quite effective, somehow...

After watching Matty O at worlds a lot this year, I really like his mechanics. His discs go so far without looking like he's throwing it hard.

Pretty sweet vid. I relate to Climo the most. I like how utilizes all of his body. Watching him play at the worlds this year helped a lot. Feldberg is my second favorite. I also enjoy Nikko's form but not anything else.

I love watchin' Markus Kallstrom drive, but watching him set up to putt drives me nuts. Jesper always looks like he's in perfect control. (The Hyzernaut color commentary is also rad.)

The footage from the '09 European Championships (same course) is excellent, just stunning. And there's lots of places where they do side-by-sides of all four players on that day's card driving on a hole. One thing that stood out for me watchin' the Day 3 footage is that, as good as many of those other players over the 3 days are, no one hits a line as consistently and drama-free as Ken Climo.
