Hyzerflip Video?

Postby Flipflat » Tue Oct 06, 2009 3:23 pm

Anyone know of a good video to check out for hyzerflip technique? Slo-mo focusing on wrist and follow-through would be helpful.
I would like your X-Wasps, please.

Cool, thanks for the links. I've been throwing hyzers that flatten out around 100' after the throw, I wasn't sure if that's a hyzerflip or if it's just a hyzer that flattens out after a while. I thought hyzerflips were tighter, like flipping 10 ft or so (less?) after release. Sometimes it doesn't work, and I just get a really long hyzer. I figure that follow-through may have something to do with it. Do you follow-through flat, or does your follow-though continue the arc of the hyzer? It looks like both you and Mike follow through with the arc of the hyzer, and that it's power that flips the disc up. I had thought that hyzerflip was bascially a OAT thing done on purpose.

Yeah, I love that throw too. It's not a hyzerflip, but it's a beauty long hyzer. Wish I had that power.

How is it not a hyzer flip? Looks to me like he just doesn't allow it to flip all the way flat. I just always counted any flipping from a hyzer release a hyzer flip.

Hyzer flip=hyzer release+flip flat (over more than flat also counts).

Hit 27 holes today, and I think I nailed down what I was doing wrong. When I was gettting a hyzerflip, I was throwing them way out to the right, as in a normal hyzer, where they would flip up for a bit then fade back. Sometimes I'd get some good cheese on it and they'd turn over, but overall I was bascially getting really good long hyzers. Watching the vids linked from above (as well as AaronD's video) made me realize that you got to throw the hyzer straight in front of you, confident that it'll pop up flat and not fling off to the left. Just a little tweak, I guess, but I was hyzerflipping the shit out of my cyclone after I realized what to do. Actually a bunch of times it flipped up quick, then turned over and hit some trees to the right. Other times I'd do it on accident (muscle memory taking over, I guess) it would flip up when I wanted a hyzer then head straight when I wanted left. Good D, but not the right direction. Fun stuff.

So basicly, to those who are learning to hyzerflip, have confidence and hyzer straight in front of you. Thanks for the links.

Dang that's the first I heard that a hyzer release flipping to less hyzer instead of flat or anni didn't count. Ah well, I take the literal meaning when I can, rather than look things up, no surprise.

Dude, to be honest, if you can hyzerflip to a hyzer, then I'll count it. :D

Hah, and I thought I was being generous for even allowing flip to flat! Anyways, flip up to hyzer is good technique for long hyzers.

Man, that is beautiful Dan...

The way you throw nose down into the hyser... beautiful.

That delivery is so different from Dan's. Avery is throwing the left side of the disc up and to the right with the nose up a tad to make sure it hysers.

Dan, on other hand, is throwing the nose down into the hyser so hard the disc starts to rise and flip.

Both awesome throws... awesome... although totally different.
