well, I think top-pros, get more breaks like that, because they are much more often in a situation, where a bit of luck can help them. Most ams wouldn't be hitting the basket in those conditions.
I think you've got that pretty backward. From what I've noticed - as you get better and better, you seem to feel you get worse and worse luck. This is because you're simply puring a lot more shots, you're hitting a lot more putts solidly. Worse players seem to get way more good luck kicks because they're throwing bad shots more often. Their bad shots are punished, as they should be - but they have a lot of those bad shots kick good. Top pros on the other hand don't throw as many bad shots, and so don't see as much good luck.

I think you are over analyzing but I tend to agree with the first comment. In a way you create your own luck, and I think as skill rises you tend to run into those lucky situations more often.
In golf the better you are the luckier you will be. In life, the harder you work the luckier you will get.
The best players seldom miss a shot badly. When they miss, they miss by a hair. The closer their speed, angle and line are to perfect, the more likely they are to get the good bounce. I mean this across the board, not focusing on any particular shot or result.
I have played too many rounds with Al Schack to be surprised by his next seemingly miraculous deflection.
But don't rely on my word for it. Test it out for yourself. Tomorrow head out to the course and shank wildly. Play opposite handed, get drunk, tie your wrists together, do whatever it takes to perform at your worst. Tell me how it works out.
If you don't find success overwhelming then take all your money and go to the casino and bet on the long shots. Good fortune will surely smile upon you once again.
