My sons form

Postby longneck » Tue Dec 29, 2009 4:28 pm

My son wants me to help him with his form. I am not great when it comes to form. So my wife and him went to a field and he threw Teebirds. He said the first one was about 330, then 340, then about 280. He said the 1st two were well thrown the last one wasn't. He is 15. I am only going to post the first two now.

Really hard to tell some things without being in closer.

You're reeeeeeally far away for the quality of the video.

It's hard to tell but it looks like he might be using more arm strength than full body strength. (I see his arm swoop out quite a bit, I might be wrong though),Which could lead to problems. Make sure the elbow is in and as close to the body as possible, elbow leads, and his lower body is rotating. I really can't tell if those are even issues with the quality of the video. So it might not be an issue at all.

Until than you might have him check out the following videos if he hasn't already.

That's a pretty good sidearm flick- first vid looks like near 300'. Does he throw backhand as well?
I would like your X-Wasps, please.

Yes it looks at least 300 to me also. He does throw backhand also. I have measured 370 by him with a tee bird before with one of them wheels. he can throw about 280-320 backhand. He can thrown 290-370 forehand. His rating is 902. Mine is 866 :( This is both of our first year playing the sport. He beat his competition junior by an average of 20 shots in tournaments. We are both moving up to intermediate next year. Except for big junior events like the Charlotte Amateur Championship and such.

I can only throw backhand and no forehand. It just wobbles for me.

More rear leg push so that it lifts off the ground and flies forward and to the side in the follow through after the rip. With more hip trn back before the arm motion forward in the throw. If one tries to go for maximum D sacrificing accuracy. Closer vid should reveal more.
Flat shots need running on the center line of the tee and planting each step on the center line. Anhyzer needs running from rear right to front left with the plant step hitting the ground to the left of the line you're running on. Hyzer is the mirror of that.
