Caution: student driver

OK I finally got a camera out and videoed some of my typical drives. This is me trying to remember and do everything I have read on this site. I already see a lot of things to work on but if anybody else wants to offer a comment I'd be grateful. Keep in mind I have a bad right knee so I have trouble really rotating on my plant leg.

I was throwing an OLS, a SOLS and a 150 Star Valk; these drives were all hitting around 250-270 feet which is average for me. Sometimes I can get it out to 300-320 on a freak toss but usually when I try to throw any harder than I am here it turns into an anny wormburner.

One thing that was obvious to me right away, is that while I was trying to concentrate on plane preservation I was clearly not succeeding. I had no idea.

One thing that stands out to me is that you're slowing down at the hit rather than accelerating. How fast your hand is moving at the hit is less important than how fast your hand is accelerating at the hit. In other words, you want your hand to be moving faster after the hit than at the hit and faster at the hit than before the hit.

Try starting your pull deliberately slow and work on accelerating the whole time. You want to be pulled around so your off hand is pointed at the target by the time you're done with your follow through. You don't have to be moving super fast, but you do have to accelerate the whole time.

Try to bend your arm more if you can by pointing the elbow at the target mid pull. If you can get the upper arm pointing at the target and the disc an inch from your chest you're fine.

If you have no injuries and have the mobility try to twist hard to the right with your hips and shoulders. You're losing power by not using those muscles. You do turn but that comes from the legs.

Also, it seems to me that you're coming through low and finishing high, which is giving you a bunch of nose up. The disc doesn't need to fly that high to get distance.
