Caddy question

Postby Jerrod » Tue Oct 20, 2009 9:41 am

I'm playing in a tournament this weekend (B tier) and my wife wants to caddy for me. Is there anything I should be aware of for her besides obvious courtesy rules?

3.5. Carts and Caddies
A. Players are required to walk during their tournament
rounds at all PDGA events unless alternate transportation
such as golf carts are provided to all competitors
B. Players will have the option to bring a caddie or carrying
device during their round of play. A player’s caddie is
subject to all items with in the PDGA Rules of Play and the
PDGA Competition Manual including all applicable dress
codes.
C. Players choosing to use a caddie will be solely responsible
for their caddie’s conduct. Misconduct by a caddie may
subject the player and caddy to disqualification and/or
suspension.
D. Players must instruct their caddies to maintain a
reasonable distance and not interfere with a competitor
attempting his or her shot.
E. For those players wishing to use a carrying device,
approved carrying devices include disc golf bags, foldable
chairs and push cart companions. No animals, motor
driven or bicycle type devices shall be allowed at all PDGA
events.

Thank you sir. I looked around on the PDGA website but didn't find anything.

Too bad about the dress code, I was going to have her go topless.

It's in the competition Manual (the little white book).

Calling the people I know on the PDGA board and getting you an exemption for this event.

Topless should be fine. The view is available to all competitors.

If she is not specifically declared your official caddy (recommend not calling her your bag lady though :) ), then she is not subject to the PDGA dress code, but the park or community may have (un)dress code laws.

Yes I did. Yes I did. No glow round this year, played dominoes with my boys that did the cooking for the players dinner. It was a great tournament this year. My home course so I had fun but played in a higher division then I should have. Taking 6 months off and then going into a level B in a higher division then last year was not the best idea. You are right though it's an awesome tourney.

After discussing this thread over wings and beer last night, I convinced my girlfriend to sign up to play in the next local tourney! That is all, thank you!
