Video on Roller Technique

Postby patdabunny » Tue Jun 22, 2010 10:50 am

Hey all,

The Louisville DG Club recently had a clinic that had various components, one of which was rollers. Adam H recorded it and now there is a great tutorial from Dave Greenwell and myself (hee hee) on all different types of rollers.

Head on over to www.louisvillediscgolf.com and check it out. Great stuff.

This year I have made it a point to put more time into Forehand and Rollers so I thank you for the effort/time you put into this. Now if more Colorado courses had good roller holes...

It's a good technique to have to get out of trouble or to get under trees/brush.

You'd be surprised at how many holes it can come into use on. Try playing a round with nothing but forehands/forehand rollers. When I did it years ago, it showed me routes I had never known were there.

No problem! I was glad I had the opportunity. I always enjoy sharing any knowledge I have that can help others.

Depending on layout edora has a few really good roller holes. There are a couple times I have messed with rollers at Badlands, not any better than airshots, but fun. Paco was amazing for rollers (front 9) but thats gone for now. I hear pueblo is not bad either. I have been messing with BH rollers on shots that need to finish right, even if I have not reason not to throw an anny. Its still good practice.

I've never needed such a steep cut roll angle and would never have thought of landing a disc almost flat for a roller. A cool trick in the bag.
Flat shots need running on the center line of the tee and planting each step on the center line. Anhyzer needs running from rear right to front left with the plant step hitting the ground to the left of the line you're running on. Hyzer is the mirror of that.

Many of these shots are used for getting out of trouble/short approaches/holes under 200'.

I greatly enjoyed attending that clinic, and watching that video was nearly as enjoyable. Top-notch vid, IMO. Not even ruined by my cameo appearance.

I spotted a few on Ebay then went back to buy and they were gone. I had a blast at the clinic and can't wait for the next one!

Great Video for different styles and shots to try out....really helped me with the slow footwork and extreme reach back.
