Grip Question

I've been checking out descriptions and pictures of various grips in an effort to diversify. I pretty much use the 4 finger power grip for drives, the birdie grip for fairway or upshots, and the traditional fan putter grip with my index finger hooked, the 2 middle fingers out and the pinkie pressed against the rim.

I don't know how I've overlooked this, but upon closer inspection, I noticed that in all the grip pics the PADS of the fingers are pressed inside the rim. I checked my grip and I press the TIPS of my fingers in.

It feels awkward trying to get the pads of my fingers in there but is that what I should be doing? Is there an advantage to one over the other?

a note about Blake is that he will openly tell anyone that he has small hands. there is a picture somewhere of Blake's open hand fitting completely inside the inner rim of a Teebird. and the ones in the Innova site I agree look weird at times.

I have slightly larger than average hands. but when I decided to change grips around I had to really stretch my hands out to get used to the changes. grip is important and i don't recommend doing anything that is painful or uncomfortable.

So do you recommend fingertips or pads?

If you don't have OAT problems with your current grips and get a good rip with em, and get good control with em, there's no reason to change anything.

I use the "Climo" grip (some have described it as a pinch grip) so I only have two fingers contacting the rim (index and pinkie) and that is with the pads. but that is what is most comfortable for me. you have your own hands so do what feels best and gives you the best release.

I recommend adding finger strength and flexibility under the elbow. That means sacrificing short term comfort for long term gain. How else are you gonna handle everything on the market once you start to control Bosses etc?

Personally, I use the grips in the Feldberg video, which I'll embed here. They work very well for me and are virtually identical to where my hands went naturally anyways.

That particular video made a difference for me when throwing mids because I used the power grip all the time. I remember seeing a video where guy said he threw EVERYTHING with a power grip, he even putted with a power grip....sounds short bus to me.
