New Grip Article

i have uploaded the first draft of my grip article. i expect it will go through 2-3 revisions before it "goes live." it's kind of dry, but i'm thinking that's because i supplimented it heavily with pictures. i will post here when each revision is made until the final copy.

harold duvall used it when he won the worlds in ~'83 i think.
it also held several distance records in the pre-bevelled edged era and i know dave dunipace used it when he set the distance record in ~'81 at ~458'

the first "final draft" of the article is live now... i have already made and probably will be making some small adjustments over the next few days.

I read this yesterday then went to the course to try it out. I after a few holes of warming up I made a conscious effort to put the base of my thumb down first. I cant tell you what a difference it made. My throws are 15-20 ft longer, lower, and straighter. I showed my friend and he was also amazed.

Before, we would keep the thumb pad on the disc with a bent thumb. Now, we let it lay flat with the fat on the disc. I cant believe it made that much difference.

To the people out there who thought they had a problem getting "the snap" I suggest trying this. I had the snap all the time. I guess I was just releasing the disc with the nose slightly up and the disc would just stall out. That solved that problem!!!

I agree, after reading the article over the past few days I went out and just adjusted my thumb a little.
Boy was there a difference, some of my straightest and farthest throws ever.

Coincidently, grip is the part of my technique that I'm working on at the moment, so the grip article came just in time. The discussion on rip and lock points helped me diagnose some problems with my grip and I think I've added another level of consistency to my throws...but we'll see how that turns out over time. The "thumb forward" concept was also a breakthrough that's added a ton of consistency to my release. I was even able to duce the elusive hole 8 at Edina the other day using what I learned in the article.
