when i start a lawn mower i yank as hard as i can. when i throw a disc it's much more of a controlled finessed uncoiling (from legs to hips to arm to finger tips).
you should start the motion of your arm just after your plant foot hits the ground... get your forward momentum from your steps to be just right so you can maintain it through your throw. too fast and your arm will fall behind... you want it all synced up.
i run on lazer beans

it is more like a lawnmower but powering the motion with the shoulder, torso, and legs.
the disc ripping out is what transfers snap onto the disc.
