Power grip hurting knuckles?

For some reason, occasionally, I get a dull pain in my middle fingers most distal knuckle (farthest from hand). I don't get it from any other grip, I think it's b/c my middle finger is a lot longer than my index finger or something, I don't know. I may just be a wussy boy. I don't put a lot of pressure into my grip though so it's weird. Maybe I just jammed it too many times playing basketball.

The only thing I can think of is if you are ripping of the middle finger... In one of the articles I read on this site it is said that the 1st (most distal) knuckle of each finger should be closest to the second knuckle of the next. This means there is a space between your 1st and second finger, so that your middle finger can be closer to the edge of the rim and come off before your rip finger.
