I just bought a viking, and the shop I frequent has two more are these really disconinued? They sort of seem like a beefier Valk....I was going to try it out this morning>

the dragon will be back, just under a new name. it used to be the dolphin i think. this time it might be like "the pelican" or something... or maybe they could make a valk or wraith that floats? i've seen 150 wraiths float before...

The Dolphin was a different mold altogether. IIRC, it was more of a midrange while the Dragon is a driver.

People hate innova for having discontinued the viking. I think that will be worth some later on.

As far as I know, the viking has not been discontinued...Dave has said that it is one of his favorite discs and that it is one of the most overlooked discs out there...I just think that alot of retailers don't carry them because there are alot of discs that overlap with them...

Not sure if its really rare. Im told its a first run Champion Gator. It has a silver reflective ring and an innova stamp in the center. No other markings. Oh and its unthrown. Gotta whippet too same description as before except it is yellow instead of blue and has been thrown. By the way anyone that knows anything about these I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

I always seem to trade everything that is collectible. I guess I don't see the point of having something I am afraid to throw. The only "rare" discs I have are a 1st run buzz and a 2nd 1st run. Looking for backups of those.

Plus, here's a post from the PDGA website by Dave himself:

Dave_D wrote:The Viking is in no danger of being dropped even though the sales are not strong. It is one of my favorites. Recently we ran a new run of Champion Vikings that, although they are the same as the ones I have been throwing, are different than what an associate had tried out. It could be that the relative unpopularity had to do with a poor batch of Vikings that was out there. When he was describing the Viking from his recollection, it was totally different than my experience. So, we went out and tested the new batch. He liked the new ones alot, and didn't like the old at all.

In light of this, I will be making a Star Viking in the more stable configuration, and we will continue with the new type Champion. I don't have a time frame for production yet unfortunately.

A few old DX, a few oldschool Proline, and a few CE.

Does anybody know if a first run CFR Starfire is worth anything? My buddy picked one up from the local disc dealer for $15 last night and he was pretty stoked about it.

How would you know it's a first run?
