USDGC 2011 preview

Postby veganray » Mon Aug 22, 2011 10:36 am

Here is a list of the USDGC spots given out this past weekend in the PDGA's "Global Disc Golf Clusterfuck®", awarded using a similar formula to how the standings will be calculated at this year's USDGC. Note the high quality of the "winning" players (as illustrated by their stellar ratings - no offense to any of the players intended). Using these results as a guide (and as I have maintained since the revelation of this ridiculous scheme), looks like this year's "national champ" will quite likely be well-below-average AM3 (or lower) player.

SWEET!

Woohoo I am number 3 on that list. Seriously though the way they are doing this is pretty stupid IMHO. I have been improving quickly thanks to the technique section here but I probably should not have gotten a spot and I should not have a chance at winning at such a large event.

Kinda off topic but I've never been to a large scale PDGA tournament and thought about making the drive down to check the USDGC out this year but from reading things like this, is it even worth it?

If I wanted to see some douche shoot 880 golf, I would go to one of the DGCR meetups.

^juju is grossly over-estimating the skill level of the dgcr user base.
