the older pdga minis actually had both your pdga # and your name on them. now they just have your # on them.
you also get a 150 class dx disc (usually shark or an aviar or leopard) in addition to the magazine subscription.
if you plan on playing any tournaments it's usually a good idea to sign up.
basically, it's always cheaper to renew than sign up new, and the costs will only go up over time.
if you do sign up/renew after september 1st it is good through the next year.

Now they're just adding insult to injury. Someone posted that if a disc were thrown around the Earth at the Equator and it took 30 seconds to get back to the thrower it would go 16 times the speed of light. In reality it would on go ~0.0045 times the speed of light and I have no way to correct him.
Apparenly the PDGA also hates accurate math.
