Payouts at worlds/pretty much any pdga tournament are a joke.
But as stated before, it will require better sponsorship and more money along with people viewing the sport as more important to change that.

Anyone ever wonder why worthless activities such as competetive eating and lumberjacking are on ESPN.... Companies like Stihl and Nathans are putting money into it, so others are noticing, DG needs that imo.

Innova tried that with the USDGC and it hasn't worked out as well as they'd hoped. Hence the changes made a couple years ago. DG is harder to film than regular golf and even harder to spectate live for. Not exactly a lot of gallery space out there in Charlotte. Most people who play DG don't watch it online or in person. They'd rather play themselves. Those of us who discuss it here, on FB and even on DGCR :P are a drop in the bucket in relation to the numbers of people who actually do play the game. Also, many got into DG because it's a cheap game to play. It's very hard to market to folks who aren't interested in spending money.

The payout is perfectly adequate. The reason is they can only pay out what they get. If you want a bigger payout you can do 3 things. 1) Raise the entry fee. 2) Get more people to play. 3) convince sponsers to donate more money.

I would love to see the world champion get $50,000. But our sport does not bring in that kind of money. If you can convince some people to sponsor worlds and donate a bunch of extra money then go for it.
