I like the look of the blue swirl I got, but I love the feel of the teal with specks...

I was liking the putter but both times I tried to nut it low and hard - it floated high on me... Feel good in the hand... I wish they all showed up the same weight...

I got a 5th gummy one that I folded up into 4's - didn't throw it but if I played on hilly courses I think it would be great for "plop and drop safety shots"...

I likey the VP so far...

I'm not sure how well I like the "Vibram" emblem being raised. It feels weird. I feel that they have less glide than most putters. I'm not saying that is a good or bad thing. Just an observation.

Very overstable! Caught the chains ok, not as good as any supersofts, but decent.

That is some weird feeling plastic. Not sure if I liked how it felt or not.

from an Email from Steve Dodge

"regarding the production run, we are still testing and as of yet, have no plans to make them readily available."

No plans to make them readily available?? i was all excited to give these a try but if this is actually the case...then who gives a shit?

i think he means they won't release till all the tweaking is done. for a company with their resources, especially in materials, that makes total sense. probably a thousand different rubbers they could fine-tune for these, so why not R&D till it's right?

hehe i bet that makes other manufacturers cry
"um, can you tell me if my new product is god-awful, or decent enough to squeak by!?"

i got mine today!
they are definitely NOT a wizard clone! i see now how they could look similar in a photo though. i will snap pics, or illustrate the profile, or both.... later. it's like a Wiz with an AVR-X top.
feels cool.
that swirl blue is too sweet.

Had a chance to throw mine. Played side-by-side with Wizards for 18 holes, throwing two wizards and two Vibrams (teal and blue) on pretty much every shot. The teal VP feels much better to me than the blue, but it has a pretty high power requirement off the teebox. If you don't get some real arm behind it, it hyzers out hard and early. If you do get enough power on it, it flies beautifully.

Best quote heard during the round: "You just outdrove my Boss with your Vibram Putter." (Slight uphill, left hooking hole where I got a great rip and took a full helix, and my friend tried to skip a boss around the corner and the muddy ground just stopped it in it's tracks).

Canned quite a few long putts with both the blue and the teal -- they drop fast and putt well. They don't feel like chiefs, but somehow, that is the plastic they most remind me of as far as the flexibility. Sometimes the blue just came out of the hand wrong and flipped over or shanked right -- I know this is my problem more than it is the disc, but I used to have this problem with Chiefs; I never had this problem with the teal VP or with Wizards -- just the blue, which is a flexier blend.

Blue is a prettier color (especially the swirled one). Prettier in the bag and easier to find on the course. It just doesn't feel as good from my limited testing -- we'll see how it does after it breaks in.

Both discs roll unbelievably well. Straight and long, and the rubbery-plastic absorbs shock from obstacles and keeps on cruising better than any other putter I've used. Regardless, one of these is likely to make it in my bag for wooded courses where touch putter roller shots are needed on some upshots and to get out of trouble. For this particular application, the VP plastic is the putter I've ever picked up, and I'm sure it has to do with how the plastic absorbs shock.
Flick long and prosper.

I don't like the a's at all. Way too floppy and the flight plate bends around. The b's break in to be plenty grippy. What firmness is everyone else liking better?

The older red ones I have are still my favorite (the back of these are marked 12 41D on them). I finally have one that is a little flippy.

feed your brains...

Image

My observation: the bottom is almost identical to a Wiz, and the top is more of an Aviar-X / fat-nose than the more gradual slope of the Wiz.

I started with a profile of a Wiz, then modified a copy into the VP, and overlaid them to show what was similar and what was different.

This is an eyeballed comparison... grain of salt.

That is a lot of weight in the rim.

:) it's not all that accurate.. mainly I'm showing the difference in the upper wing/nose.

i noticed on my illustration that the underside of the wing plateaus before the bead... totally wrong. i wasn't paying a whole lot of attention to nailing that part, only showing what didn't look Wizzy. so yeah, if the rim/nose/bead were in the right place, it might not be so weighted.

Not sure the VP can be beat for short hyzers, and headwind putts.
