Ace Run yet another mid range

Postby TexasOutlaw » Fri Sep 08, 2006 10:57 am

Anyone have any experience with the Discraft Ace Run proto?

It is supposed to be a stable to understable midrange in esp plastic. I have the last 2 ace run discs: the slipstream and glide (which my gf has claimed). Don't know if I want an understable mid.

i retract my previous statment. it is the torq, it is a modded MRV but it does not have a bead. the production one will have a bead but the ace race one does not. thus making it a touch disc. it will be a bit understable. i talked to keith from discraft and mark ellis about it at USADGC yesterday.

I played in the Ace Race...

It goes this away and that away and this away and that away... and I didn't mean for it to go that way...

if they add a bead for production runs the ace race ones wont be pdga legal huh. I know discraft dosnt get pdga approval for ace race discs until they make the production run.

the beaded and shaved ones are both currently being tested by the PDGA for approval. odds say that the production run will be beaded as the beaded one i have does say "first run" on it.

Now I have a question about last year's ace run. I carry the ace race version of the slipstream; is the regular production different?

Any other impressions of that disc? I'm surprised discraft would produce another mid with the buzz, wasp, glide, breeze...

the mrv was different than the buzz, wasp, glide, and breeze... maybe most like a wasp but not as big of a fade.
that's cool discraft hasn't totally tossed out the mold. maybe people will say "man this technology is really coming along, this is the best midrange ever!" anyways.

mrv was more similar to a spider in my book, or a small diameter wasp.

I used an mrv before I moved to buzzes. I remember it being slightly more overstable than a buzz but not as overstable as a wasp.

I had a yellow mrv, some special edition plastic that resembles todays x and pro plastic, but before these plastices were available. I also have a talon in some weird special edition plastic.

I don't like special editions because when they are gone you cannot replace them.

unless you have a stack of them... I know people with over 10 beadless Aviar XDs left from the 80s, because they bought 30 when they came out and only break another out when their old one breaks or is lost.
