Most ridiculously overstable disc

Postby Granduter » Sat Sep 09, 2006 6:01 pm

So according to Blake's wonderful chart, props to Blake, the spirit seems to be the most overstable disc, is there anything else that is a driver that is also crazy overstable? Its a for a bet with my friend, he wants the most overstable disc possible.
Thanks so much, I know you guys won't let me down

Gateway Speed Demon This thing is sickly wack overstable.

Discraft Z- Flick insanely overstable

Innova Star Monster, this thing is worse overstable then the champ version of it.

I have to agree that the speed demon is the winner here. I believe that I read that the Spirit was supposed to be a less overstable version of the speed demon. I also have a star starfire x that is just sick overstable.

I would say the flick isnt too overstable (I can backhand one straight for 80% of the flight before the knife of a fade) it is very fast, so the slower you throw, the more overstable. then the speed demon is very fast AND pretty overstable making it feel more overstable than anything ive thrown (.0001 % of disc golfers have the arm for this one) Monster X Mold was insane overstable (again speed is a factor) Extreame was pretty overstable.
I still think speed demon takes the cake.

Overstable

Postby twmccoy » Sat Sep 09, 2006 9:44 pm

Of what I've thrown, here's how I rank the most overstable discs

1) Champ Monster
2) Speed demon
3) Star starfire (this disc is truly an overstable pig, especially heavy ones)
4) Champ firebird

Here are some other overstable discs (but not insanely so)

Z predator
Tsunami
Reaper
Champ teebird
Champ eagle
X2
Teerex

The flick was listed earlier, but it doesn't even compare to these. The flick will hold a straight line if thrown hard. The discs above will not.

I'ved got acouple of spirit molds that were ran in discraft Z plastic that are the most overstable disc I have ever thrown. I love them for skip shot, thumbers, and hella long fore hands.
The more I throw, the easier it gets-

I love my 165 S Spirit for knife hyzers and my 150 Z Flick for sidearms. The flick is well-seasoned, so I can chuck it really far backhand too, but I don't throw it on drives since flicks mask over technique flaws

I don't think they make them anymore, but I find the S Spirits to be much more overstable than the E. I have a couple of ~120g S Spirits that are more overstable than most 170g+ E Spirits I've thrown. I also found that a new S Spirit is compareable to the earlier E Speed Demons and a beat up one is compareable to a new E Spirit or a newer revision of the E Speed Demon.

Regular ol' Demons are pretty ridiculous, too. I could get my really overstable Spirits out to 300' with a bunch of anny, but I couldn't get a Demon past 250' no matter what I did.

I picked one of these up. I think it is very usable. Long too.
The Star Monster is also very nice. Not crazy nose sensitive.

My vote is for the heavy Flicks.

Viper is a driver, or at least was when it was made (I think they still say its a fairway driver).

I agree that the demon is very overstable, definately the most overstable mid (more overstable than firebirds and such, just slower)

Innova ram is on the list too.

and S plastic spirits are the most overstable spirit (which is odd because thats against the trend other copanys base plastic has) I am betting it has to do with the direction the wing is pulled during cooling.
