Over & Underrated discs?

Over: Every distance driver released since the Orc, the Roc (yes it is good, but I would put it next to the high speed drivers in terms of discs I see noobs throwing that they shouldn't be), Star and ESP plastic (explain to me again how you mix 2 cheaper plastics and charge more $ than either)


Under: Meteor (most have know idea what this disc is capable of), Orc, Flash, Warlock (lost among the Wizard, Magic, and Voodoo)

Over: Groove, Monarch, dimple discs, and other rim configuration changes that don't add benefit over existing discs but try to justify a new mold and new $. Monarch/Groove, especially, because they encourage an excuse for low-power players to throw high-speed discs that will NEVER be consistent for them.

I refuse to call the Boss overrated. It does what it's made for and outdistances anything I own. The groove on the other hand is totally overrated. I can't get any consistency out of them.

Underrated disc: Champion eagle X. There may not be a better precision disc out there. Great for accurate shots around trees and lakes.

dx firebirds are underated.

dx rocs are a bit overated (though I do throw them).

i'm not surprised to see most people say that the newest and fastest drivers are overrated.....i agree (mainly because i can't throw them )

many folks say the buzzz is overrated.....this is odd for me since innova is king in my area......and someone said the roc is overrated.....interesting

well here are my picks:

overrated: the firebird......it doesn't fly that far even in a headwind(but we could just chalk it up to my lack of game skill/knowledge)....

underrated: storm.....just plain tits......

Overated - all the way overstable & fast drivers that are supposed to yield distance. You're led to believe that you'll throw further with these discs when the truth is that only folks with the necessary skills benefit from them.

Also, the ton of discs that are understable out of the box. I'm falling on the side of Blake's usual advice that many of these discs just prove too unreliable, how much power is needed to turn it over vs have it go straight? It becomes more reliable to take a disc that will fade every time and force it over or beat it into straight. At least then you know what will happen.

Under rated - The older, slower discs (fairway drivers or even the Valkyrie) that get a lot of love around here and with longer tenured players, but hardly see the bag of newer players. The more I throw them, well, the more I throw them.

In my area discraft is underated.. we have 2 shops selling disc. One is only innova the other carries innova and discraft. No one throws discraft so the shop has discounted the discraft and said he wont sell it anymore? Its like im the only one in my area throwing discraft..

The Force is highly underated.

Overated: all the new high Zoot super fast drivers that seem to come out every 3rd week.
The wizard, it's treated like gods own putter here on DGR. I've got a stack of them
and they are my main putter. But give me a magnet or aviar and within 5
I'll be just as consistent.

Underated: shark and coyote are great miss that get over shadowed by the roc,
also the gazelle, x2, and xtra.

Yeah, that's why I mentioned it. I've seen one, maybe 2 guys throwing anything gateway in my small travels and playing time. As opposed to so many, many Innova/Discraft. Actually, I take that back, a couple other guys are throwing Gateway putters, but I did provide them with the putters.
