Over & Underrated discs?

Am I the only one who doesn't think the Boss is overrated? I use them all the time to great result. And they go farther than my orcs by a good 25 feet consistently.

I'd say:

Overrated: The Nuke, since its basically a Boss, but apparently is cool on DGR to like.
Underrated: Since everyone seems to hate it, I'd say....The Boss.

I agree that the Boss is tremendously underrated on this board (judging by all of the Boss overrated early posts). the thing is stoopid long, and if you find the right one, literally impossible to flip (I apparently have one).

But man I don't think the Nuke bears any resemblance to the Boss. The Boss is so much more (over)stable in comparison.

I think I had a proto Nuke. Mine was never really flippy. I haven't tried any of the newer ones.

But yeah, its interesting that one the Boss thread, most people seem to really like it, but now everyone trashes it. Whatever.

I think the only reason the boss is voted as overrated by most of us is because 99% of the disc golf population is not reaching full potential with the disc. Example is in the tourney I played this weekend(MA1). I would watch people bust out a boss, katana, destroyer, etc. They would throw them 350-375 max on s-lines. I would walk up with an OLF or OLS depending on the hole and throw it 400-415ft with relative control of where the disc would be landing. I got asked atleast 10 times this weekend what I was throwing for distance. Every single person was suprised with my answer and asked why I dont throw something faster. I then asked them why they dont throw something slower that they can control for longer distances. that is why the boss and such drivers are overrate for 99% of the disc golf population. It is a good disc, I wont deny that, but very few have the ability to use it properly.

If it wasn't over bought then it wouldn't be over rated.

Popularity is RARELY a way to judge somethings quality.

underrated the element it flies like what everyone tells me the comet should.

Every single person was suprised with my answer and asked why I dont throw something faster. I then asked them why they dont throw something slower that they can control for longer distances.

This kinda reminds of something yesterday. A guy in the group I was playing with was talking to me at the pad about the route to the hole (which was a 280ish straight shot with a kinda low ceiling, not much room on the left side of the fairway but plenty of room to the right). He throws RHFH, I'm LHBH, so we can take the same lines. He planned to take this crazy hyzer line out way to the left, over an OB fence, and with various trees that could really mess up an offline shot and was saying I should be doing the same thing.

Me: Why? It's just a straight shot to the hole from here.

Him: But your shot is going to hyzer away from the basket at the end.

Me: Not my shot.

I put a Gazelle 20 feet from the basket (despite getting too much turn on it), his Boss barely made it back in bounds and was well deep.

uhhhh.... if you're throwing a Boss 280 ft, you're doing it wrong. leave it in the trunk, don't even take it out to the course. it's not a disc's fault that unqualified people try to throw it.

I like to use my max weight Champ Boss for short skip shots... way less than 280 feet. Do I need to leave mine in the trunk?
