discspeed wrote:Quality disc that may be outperformed by newer models, but it is about as consistent as any disc. At several points in my DG career I've taken it out of my bag for a year, only to put it back. When I reach for it I always know what its going to do, even if I haven't touched one for a year. The Max is faster, and if I threw it 10 different times every shot would be a slightly different distance. With the Fbird, same distance every time!
I just took the preds out for firebirds (AGAIN). The preds were not cutting it for overhands (they rotate too fast for me and loose a bit of d) and the firebird does the forehand roller much better. For now I'm using firebirds.

Pearly Champ Monster. I don't know how it's different from a Firebird since I've never thrown one, but I golf with a buddy that carries an older Firebird (don't know how old, it's dyed) and my Monster seems to be about the same consitency-wise, and a little more overstable.

i carry a 2 firebirds i think these are the best wind fighting discs ever and with some muscle you could still get a good 380'+ feet out of em too.
i have not tried the pred yet and i probably wont unless i lose both of my FB's or magicaly get sponsored by discraft. i bet they rock since everyone i talked to says they are like the FB. but for me there is no reason to switch something that works so well.
So many of the top pros have either a FB or a PRED so they both have to be good and do about the same thing IMO

And I want to echo what somebody else stated. The XXX is money for thumbers.
No BS the XXX has added about 50 feet of D to my overhands (especially tommies) ive been able to push it out to 370ish pretty reliably
right after i wrote this i went out and Aced a hole with a gentle (250 or so) thumber with my XXX

(and i am terrible at thumbers

)

I don't have a Firebird in my 150 bag... yet. I have the Banshee right now. I think I might audition the two against each other.
Too bad Discraft doesn't make a 150 Z Pred.

I throw an 11X KC Champ Firebird for thumbers only. So consistent...it does the same thing every time! I love it. For headwinds and big hyzer drives it's an XCaliber, for me.
Putting is overrated.

After my rounds today, I see nothing a Firebird could have helped me with, so I'm not getting one.

honestly I throw a predator and banshee longer on a thumber than a firebird....so no use for a firebird in my bag.

i usually don't
but i don't really see the need for it at the courses i play
but also i'm not sure i understand the purpose of the FB/Pred/XXX type disc
i own an 11x champ FB a DX FB and a Z Pred (no Frank_Delicious you can't have this one too) and a Z Xtra
so please guys educate me on the need for these low glide meat hooks, please tell me what type of holes/shots/situations these bad boys are for......i'm not being sarcastic i'm genuinely curious because i'm thinking i may be missing something mega important from my game
much love
