Need a new driver...

Postby Tanner » Sun Sep 17, 2006 8:34 am

Alright, I lost my ESP surge a few days ago, and I'd like to replace it with something. I just don't know what. I can throw a good 300'-350' comfortable forehand and backhand. Discraft or Innova would be good, we have very few gateway at the store.

So, here's my bag (Also, if I have any overlap, please tell me.)

Drivers:
Champ Roadrunner
Champ Monster
Star TL
Elite Z Xpress

Midrange
Breeze
Champ Leopard

Putt And Approach
Aviar
JuJu

Thanks for your help!

also and a real mid (not understable) roc, buzzz, wasp, spider... alot to choose from from both companies.

and for a max d driver (surges spot) pro wraith, dx wraith, x avenger, x crush and pro starfire are just a couple that I would suggest

Teebird won't replace the Surge, though...

How about another surge? Nothing really better on the market (other than the wriath) for big distance shots. You may also try a star SL or pro starfire.

2nd on the dx teebird. I added one to my bag recently, and it's made an amazing difference.

What would you think of a comet for a mid?

So, ordering some xouts from gottagogottathrow. Thinking about replacing my surge with a champ beast? Getting a new monster (current is lose me quickly tye dye)

the comet might be technically a bit understable i dont know (thinkin its the one thats like a goblin right)

btw, the skeeter is GREAT (even though its not overstable really) but it throws like a d buzzz pretty much. i want the skeeter in star...... /endrant

comet is a bit understable, and is affected by the wind alot. I like comets, and make good beginner drivers. If a beginner could only start with one disc that would be the one

I dont reccomend carrying a comet for your only mid, for the similar reasons I dont reccomend the breeze. Comet is faster than mids should be (more comparable to fairway drivers) while the breeze is slower.
and They both are out of the box understable, which=fly less predictably

Surge 4 what?

Postby diskgopher » Sun Sep 17, 2006 7:47 pm

What were you using the surge for? That would make a big difference.

As far as midranges go the comet is slightly understable with very little fade and great glide. It will probably work better than your current set up as you lack a disc that is the speed of a true midrange disc. A z or gt-x buzzz are also great for an all purpose mid range and they are less touchy than the comet. Its not as if the comet is a bad disc but with your (implied) technique you will most likely have success with faster and more forgiving discs.

I would definately recommend getting a Pro Wraith over a Champ Beast. The Wraith does everything the Beast can, only much better. I would second the Z XS, that disc is amazing. As for a midrange, you can't get much better than a Buzzz.

Distance

Postby diskgopher » Sun Sep 17, 2006 8:39 pm

The discs listed by Thatdirtykid are pretty good. I would add the z flash and the dx valkyrie. They work pretty well for distance too but they are a little less predictible. I use dx teebirds for distance myself, but I know I give up a little D for a lot of control.
I personally am not a big fan of the new champ beasts. Their performance is really weight dependant and they don't carry further than the afore mentioned discs.

Ok. I have in my cart an x buzz GT (think it might be cool), champ monster because I don't like my current one's color (fast to lose) and an ESP pulse....I think the pulse is what I've been looking for...
