Star Plastic Question WARNING:IMAGE

Postby swel304 » Fri Sep 22, 2006 9:30 pm

I got a star leopard today from a local shop. Its orange and looks swirled, which I though was odd because none of the other star discs were like this. Is this a factorory mistake or are all the orange ones like this? will it effect the disc any? make it less durable? Its my first star disc and it feels really good, cant wait to go throw it. here is a pic of it but its a little light, the swirling is alot more apparent looking at the actual disc.

I have a pink star firebird that looks the same way. It looks to me like they painted the color on by hand and left a lot of brushstrokes. I know they didn't, of course.

I don't know for sure if this effects stability, but my firebird was unthrowable (for me). I'm sure it will still be tough as nails tho.

A lot of star discs are coming out this way now. Just a mix of colors of plastic when they shoot the mold. Same flight, just looks cool.

I agree with the looks cool, I really like it. Hope it will fly as nice as it looks. Are these as hard to break in as CE? I had a CE leopard that I ended up tradeing off because it just wouldnt break in to fly anything near the path of my dx lep.

I would say no. The Star Teebird I had broke in nicely to somewhat resemble the flight of a DX Teebird with a lot more fade at the end. The fade is what ruins these Elite plastics for me.

Don't expect it to beat in to what any DX Leopard would beat into, though It may be close. Instead learn to love it for what it is: a different disc that will fly how it does for a loooooooong time.

actually it is yellow and orange, looks like someone was too lazy to mix in the dye properly.

I've seen star discs that have slight tinges of other colors in them. One star wraith I have is yellow with some green in the center. I've also seen DX discs with this. Usually the second color appears faintly in the center of the disc and can be seen better from the bottom than the top.

Ive got an old champ beast that is blue with these pinkish purple swirls all over the flight plate. I also have a few white wizards with blue and purple swirls on the bottom of the flight plate. I wish companies did more of this as it looks pretty cool.

I believe this is a result of not cleaning the dye injectors when changing colors for discs and it ends up turning out like this. I've seen white with pink SL, Pink and darker pink on FB, lime green and avocado green on FB. Won't effect flight.

there was a small break in the rain today so I had a chance to go out and get a few drives in with this thing. It was very windy but I am very happy with it so far. seems like it throws very similar to my beat in dx leopard. Im hopeing its due to me flexing it alot last night and that it wont turn to junk after it breaks in some. My dx usually fades back left at the end if I give it enough height, this one just keeps going right it seems, wind could have had a lot to do with it though.

It's what Weebl said, when they changed colors to run the next color they didn't clean it good enough so some of the old color mizture is still there for the next plastic.
