Get yourself a max weight Star Firebird, I replaced my 11x FB with one and I have been very happy.

They flight just as well, except (in my opinion) they beat in a bit faster. But I've had mine forever and still throw thumbers with it.

The new pro firebirds are all FL molds. There are older "proline" that are the F mold. Those are candy plastic and very nice.

While were talking firebirds is there a difference between FX and F molds?

Yes. The CE "FX" mold is the current Firebird (what is now known as F mold), and the CE "F" mold would be the FL. The old school F molds aren't quite the same as what is now known as FL, but they are close.

To add a little more confusion...there are at least a few old school Pro which are the FL, as I own one.

I just bought a champ firebird with the flight numbers on it that is real flat and gummy. Pretty excited if the most recent run came out like this I will be happy.

Glow Champion Firebirds that I have come across have been really flat as well.

The stigma attached to the 12x champ firebirds is pretty silly. They are still plenty overstable, but not stupidly overstable like spirits or speed demons (ie will never turn over in a headwind), which is apparently what everyone likes about the flat 11x versions.

depends on what you're after. a touch of hyzer release will fix most problems with over reaching their stability, right? I have a predator that isn't super overstable but is still very useful into a headwind. if you need a true never turn over wind beater, I think something faster than a firebird/predator/xxx will have better luck, like the spirit or cpd2.

I'm not a firebird expert since I have almost always thrown predators, but I still don't think it would be a problem. Then again, I'm very much against throwing disc molds/runs that aren't easy to come by. I'll leave this conversation to the Firebird crew I guess

Also not flat fbs flip faster overhand. Thumbers go father with the more overstable firebirds.
