What do you guys put on your bags to help fend off the elements? I bought a Kong about a year ago and almost bought the Phenix because of the lining on the bottom. Sometimes I wish I had as my bag gets soggy on those wet days and ends up smelling after a period of time. Anybody recommend dipping their Mahal or Grip in the lining or will that void the warranty? I did douse my Kong in NikWax when I first got it, but it appears that I need to clean my bag and reapply it.

Ok so I promised to put my honest opinion on the GripEQ vs. Golf Mahal, I'm gonna base it on the following categories...Quality, Size, Storage, Comfort, Durability.

Quality: Hands down goes to the Mahal - it's by far the most superior bag I have ever owned in the terms of build quality, everything from the straps to the zippers is top notch, stitching is awesome and overall it's put together like a tank.

Size: I'm going to have to go with GripEQ on this one, now the Grip is very small on your body, fits nicely to your back and for it's size it's the winner.

Storage: Going to have to say the Mahal has it...now if you have the side pockets out you can fit EVERYTHING you'll ever need during a round of golf or a tournament, you could bring a back up of everything you throw most likely, however it does get a bit bulky when you have both pockets full of discs or whatever else you have and could really wear you down after a round of carrying it loaded to the max.

Comfort: I'm going to have to say Mahal (IF fitted properly) is a more comfortable bag then the Grip, this is SOOOOOO close because really they are both VERY comfortable bags. The Mahal's framework is great, you have to have a friend or your spouse help you fit it, but once you do it's like you have nothing on your back, the weight is distributed so evenly it's really amazing. The Grip EQ comes in a very very very close 2nd, bonus of the Grip, grab and GO, no fitting required.

Durability: I won't comment on this until I have many rounds in with both bags, right now the Mahal is to new to rate and I don't have the 2nd run Grip yet. So check back later.

Right now here's what I'll say, really they are two totally different bags....the Mahal is a bag for EVERYTHING, it's a bag you take with you in a tournament round where you need extras. The GripEQ is also tournament capable however if fits less discs then the Mahal so you won't have room for extras if you carry a lot of plastic.

Both bags are great really, the only issue I had with my GripEQ was the build quality, otherwise it's a great bag and I'll use it and my Mahal for different things. I'm keeping both and will use both on different occasions, if I want a quick round I'll probably throw on the GripEQ (Leagues, Casual Rounds) things like that, tournament rounds the Mahal will be my bag. Really both bags are good, the Mahal just edges out the GripEQ in my opinion.

However I will say this, I will recommend both bags to anyone that is looking for a bag, both a great and both have many many positive qualities. They are 2 of the top bags out there that's for sure. Hope this helps.

Pink/Black Mahal???

Actually, I'm looking for something exactly like the Mahal, since I'm looking for the most comfort I can get out of a disc golf bag. Problem is the price tag. I don't have enough expendable income to blow $300 on a disc golf bag, but I want a comfortable backpack style bag - I cannot get a quad shock hook up to ride properly on my back, which makes it hurt a lot more than it should.

If that isn't right up the alley of the Mahal, who's it made for then? The average disc golfer that has 300 bux to blow? As bad as I want this thing (and I love having top of the line gear for my recreation activities) it's just not that feasible.

the back pain from Quads/Carolina after a weekend of golfing is what prompted my purchase. I can definitely appreciate your apprehension at the price, it certainly is expensive, but at this juncture for me, it is worth it.

I use the spray on plastidip.

do you have to reapply it every 6 months or year? That looks like the solution I've been looking for.

depends on how hard you are on the bottom of your bag.

I used the paint on plastidip on my revo mini. It works great so far.
