@Jeronimo - pretty much self taught. Most of the Austin guys are accurate drivers and amazing putters. Distance isn't really needed here so it doesn't breed it. There are some bombers in Austin but they really couldn't explain it in detail on how they did it. I will say that I wouldn't have gotten this far without DGR and the teaching here from everyone. I absorbed myself in every type of technique until it clicked. Thats really what it takes...

I played a couple times in 07 but really started in 08. The Wraith was still a hot disc, and I remember the Buzzz being really popular as well, as it still is.

The Destroyer was a big release, I do remember that.

Lids were the only ones available back then.
Flat shots need running on the center line of the tee and planting each step on the center line. Anhyzer needs running from rear right to front left with the plant step hitting the ground to the left of the line you're running on. Hyzer is the mirror of that.

Lots of one disc rounds with either a Shark or Cyclone, but when I got one of the first XLs in my area, I was told that is was not fair...

Viper when I played in the '90s, then Wraith when I got back into it.

twmccoy wrote:Back then (8 years ago?) you actually had to have an arm to get some distance. Now there seems to be an overabundance of super fast flippy drivers made for weak throwers. Let's face it, ten years ago there were hardly any flippy discs available. There are so many options available now to new disc-ers that choosing discs must be a nightmare.
Also, we had to play bare foot in the snow back then.

I started in 97, my first two discs were a #3 Flyer and a Cyclone 2
The first discs I REALLY got into were Cheetahs and Gazelles, which I still throw today
pretty sure my first ace was with a Viper
It was a big deal when my town got the 7 speed (Eagle/Banshee) stuff
