Double Circle Tooling - What's the deal?

Postby Fightingthetide » Sun Mar 25, 2012 7:28 pm

From time to time I have heard people allude to the double circle tooling as rare or sought after. Why is that?

A friend recently came across what looks like a Star Aviar PnA with an awesome stamp. It's got the double circle and www.innovadiscs.com tooling. Is this something special?

BTW, I'm an NCSU grad, so I'm stoked to see this! (and stoked for basketball next year after our run in the tournament!)

I've always heard circle tooling to mean the tooling on wizards to distinguish older runs from newer runs. There's no tooling, wide circle tooling, close circle tooling and then the new tooling. That is a double ring aviar which was the old mold from what I understand. The new mold only has one ring around the nipple.

the double ring or circle on innnova is appearing again on new runs of aviar based discs. I have seen aviar P&A, champion aviar, and p2 to name a few in the double ring mold. These don't have patent #s and the everything else with the tooling is up to date. looks like they updated the mold
